If the microwave is humming there is a fult in the megnatron,,
(thats the part that heats the food) there very pricy to buy and its not a good idear for you your self to try to fit a new one,,,as in side the microwave is a very big capasitor,, it works much like a police stun gun but it wont just stun you it could kill you if you tuch the wrong part,,,
bets thing to do it drop it into a shop for this fix or to be realy honest microwaves are so cheap now it would be a far better bet to go out and buy a nice new one, its not worth throwing good money at an old microwave only to have it pack up in a fuw more months

Why is light staying on and its making annoying humming sound?

The door switches are either faulty or not being depress when the door is closed, this usually means that the door and the cabinet are out of alignment

GE JVM1630 makes a humming noise and doesn't get hot

It may be a shorted high voltage diode or a failing magnetron.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)

Microwave oven doesn't heat.

Yes! I have come across the odd case where the magnetron was intermittent, fortuneately it is rare because this type of problem is very difficult to nail down.

Khhc2090s trouble

The sensor errors are probably just from opening the door and interrupting the sensor cook cycle.

By the way, you should always press "Stop" before opening the door of a running microwave. Otherwise, the door switches will prematurely fail.

I would first check the door switches and their mounts. See this help file.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

The microwave is making a loud humming noise when it is on and it isn't heating. It also has a burning smell. We had this microwave repaired replacing the magnetron and diode in Jan. 2006.

sounds like same problem again.... the magnetron is what does the heating and if the display is working and just humming sounds like the mag is not coming on .... could be the capacitor but most likely the magnetron again..... i am a appliance /heating and air company out of texas we work on these things everyday and is very common problem... thanks a/c and heating unlimited good luck
