I have a 27 inch sony trinitron color tv I bought in 1998. The
other day the screen just turn black. I tried to turn the power
back on but all I can hear is the clicking sound each time I hit the
button on. The standby/timer light indicator keeps
blinking. I have no idea what's going on?
Turned the tv off last night-was working fine. Today it won't turn on. Sleep light flashes. Unplugged, turned on, still sleeping. Remote doesn't turn it on either. I am not sure of the model but it is definitely a Sony Triniton. It is in a beautiful cabinet. It was given to us after the owner passed away so I am not sure of the model.I am not sure of the model but it is definitely a Sony Triniton. It is in a beautiful cabinet. You should have buttons on the remote for the TV which are SWAP and FREEZE and PIP. Pressing PIP should turn picture in picture ON and OFF each time you press.
Just for the heck of it, check to see if the SAP setting is correct in the Audio selection menu. It should be set to Stereo.
I hope this helps,

Hi, IK circuit is engaging which basically means the picture tube is getting tired, the only "fix" is temporary (may get another year out of it). You have to increase the "screen control clockwise".
Remove back of set, follow large black or red wire attatched to picture tube down to the flyback transformer, mounted on flyback are two black controls, one is focus (leave it alone) the other is "screen", adjust it clockwise approx. 1/4 inch, remember that this is a high voltage circuit so use one hand in the set the other hand out of the set at all times, any questions ? e-mail me back, good luck, BMW Rider
Hi, tubes getting tired, band-aid fix you can do is remove back of set and turn up(clockwise) the screen control( small black plastic control mounted on side of flyback transformer, do not turn the knob marked focus) until you see a whole bunch of white lines across the screen, then turn same control counter-clockwise until all the lines go away, try several different channels to be sure all the retrace lines are gone, you`ll get up to 1 year more use out of it, than she`s done, good luck, BMW Rider
You probably have a leaky or open electrolytic capacitor in the vertical circuit. This will require troubleshooting by a repair specialist, unless you can obtain a diagram and do a little spy work with an oscilloscope
