you horizontal output transformer inside the unit has a high voltage leak. if you know how to open the back cover. you can try to clean the dust buildup inside and in the back of the tube check the unit if still produce bad smell. if still zapping replace your high voltage transformer it may have a leak.
Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hi A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.
You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed. This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot! Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage. Hope this helps
Hi, the power supply board has a little board towards the connectors. This board has an led and it will blink if there is an error, check how many blinks there are and then check on the on the power PCB next to this little board you will see the error explanation. Also check capacitors on the power board next to the control board connector, replace any bulging ones. I hope this helps.
My Philips Plasma TV model 42PF7220A/37 went into "no menu exit" mode on 11/28/2007. I went to www.usasupport.philips.com and downloaded an upgrade. Just followed the instructions and my TV is all better.
