I need power and volume control codes only for my SONY DAV-BC150 home theater unit so I can program them into my cable remote.

My cable service is with Charter Communications. All of their "control codes" are five(5) digits. I tried "Search" last night until my fingers gave out. I tried "00220" and "00689" but to no avail. Any other ideas?

Charter Communication cable remote I have matches the picture you added to this thread. I tried all the 5 codes you suggested, none worked to control the SONY Home Theater box. The SONY remote that does control it is model RM-SS251 called AV System 3. I do not want to inroduce another remote to our household, so I will use the two if I have to...the older MOXI remote I had with the older DVR from Charter did control the SONY box, but not this new one yet. Thanks for your help thus far.

I will try those other SONY codes. The "SYSTEM OFF" key now works to turn all on and off. However, the AUX key then PWR does not control the Home Theater. The AUX is what is was programming with these codes. Thanks for your help

Not sure if you have tried the 3 codes listed in the OCAP 4 universal remote manual for Sony Receivers
31759, 30158, 31758

Sony DVD players
20533, 21533, 20864, 21033, 21070, 21431, 21536
In addition I find a way of finding the codes at the Universal Remote support site

http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=313
But it gives a generic code for Sony DVD systems
20533

  1. Turn on your device (i.e. TV).
  2. PRESS the button for the device you want to program (TV, VCR, CABLE, AUD, etc.) then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED for the selected device flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  4. ENTER the 5 digit code for your brand from the list above.
  5. You should receive 2 quick flashes on the LED for the selected device after entering your code.
  6. PRESS the POWER button to test the code. (On VCR,LD,and CD players use PLAY

Not sure if you have already tried all this. The other option might be to find if the Sony system remote has the code for the Charter cable modem.

I don't know what cable company you have or what equipment it is but you can try 220, or 689. Those are some codes for both cox, and comcast remotes.

is this picture like your remote?

There is an alternative if we cannot find a code for your remote. Logitech Harmony remotes are programmable for almost any electronic device out there. Here is a link for one from newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... Its not cheap but it is the lowest costing one in their line up of remotes. I use this exact model. I have six different remotes and everyone in my household had trouble setting each one correctly just to watch tv. So I purchased this Harmony 550 remote and with two clicks anyone can watch TV, a DVD, or the VCR, without confusion. This remote connects to a computer via a usb connection, you would go to logitech's website pick all of you components and go through a few simple steps and its programed.

Those are all of the codes that the manufacture has for Sony products. This is the link to the web page for that remote. Maybe in the near future they will add some more codes for Sony devices.

This is a Sony TV code 10000, and this is a Sony VCR code 20000. I'm not sure if these will help either.

I would keep checking periodically with Charter, and the link I've sent you for code updates. If your old remote works with the new cable box maybe you can continue to use that one.

How can I change the areal code of my DAV-BC150

Scroll through the menus to find an option titled “Region.” It may be hidden in a maze of sub-menus. Re-set region to Zero (0) If you can reset your region to Zero (0) your unit will read any DVD from anywhere.

I need device codes for sony DAV HD279w home theater/dvd player controlled by comcast digital cable remote control (none of the codes work in the manual and I tried searching for code and still no luck)...

It seems like most (maybe all) Sony HTIB do not work with the Comcast Custom Remote. I've found a work around that fixes the volume control and power button though. Hope it helps you all. I have a DAVHDX275 but I think this will work for most Sony HTIB systems.

What you need to do is steal some codes from a like product and then hardcode in the changes you need to the comcast remote. Set your AUX to 21232 (a sony code for TV/VCRs).

Then do the following:

1. While still on AUX, press and hold SETUP again until the remote blinks twice
2. Type 994
3. Press and release SETUP
4. Type 32975
5. Press and release VOL+
The remote should blink twice. That should reprogram the VOL+ to work with your Sony HT device. For each of the following function codes, follow the same steps and use the codes listed below:
Vol+ = 32975
Vol- = 31951
Power = 32719
Good luck. Let me know if it works.
