Can I be assisted as to how I can retrieve all those files?

If you re installed, the hard drice will have been wiped clean, (as windows does) meaning they are no longer there.
If however they are stored as a backup elsewhere, Win 10 should recognise the file suffux and download the programme to open them.

Hi,

Unfortunately if the hardware is different than when you bought it you will have to redownload software for each component individually. You can start by using the repair/reinstall CD provided which should include most of the software you need.

Once you have your pc working, I highly recommend setting up an incremental backup to an external harddrive that runs at least twice a month and store critical documents to an encrypted USB drive.

If you have specific hardware you need help finding software for, I would be more than happy to help locate it for you.

Thanks

Dear Sir, Madam My computer crashed and now all

If you have the software to your ( OS ) Operating System re-install and boot from the CD. There should be an operation for repair or reinstall for now choose repair. Allow the computer to boot and then reinstall all your software including downloading the latest drivers for your NEC be sure the drivers are compatible with the ( OS ).

It just keeps restarting over and over.

Hi !

You operating system is corrupted and needs to either repair or reinstall your operating system.

For repairing the operating system, you need operating system installer CD and when reparing, all the your software installed, document files and hardware drivers will still be there. But if your computer crashed because of virus attacked. It is not advisable to run the repair mode. Here is the link on how to repair the operating system http://www.fixya.com/support/t7687003-computer_suddenly_crashes_fails_boot.

For reinstalling the operating system, all the software will be wipe out including your hardware drivers and document files will be losted. So be sure you have all the hardware drivers of your computer like chipset driver, LAN driver, VGA driver, Sound driver and others. Here is the link of how to reinstall your Windows XP operating system http://www.fixya.com/support/r7410371-reinstall_windows_xp_or_installing_clean. For other like vista and windows 7, it is somehow the same procedure.

I hope it helps you and thank you for using FixYa !

Did somebody reinstall Windows from a "generic" Windows CD/DVD, rather than using the Dell-specific "System Restore" set of disks?

Access http://support.dell.com
and enter the unique Product ID code on your computer.

Then, Dell's web-site will show you the available downloads for your specific hardware.
Download & install the drivers.

BACKUP,BACKUP,BACKUP....all data was probably lost when it crashed...as far as your Norton, contact them...they will have your subsciption on file and let you download...if you have the Norton disk, and hopefully you have the serial #, just reload and enter this long number when it asks you for it

Sounds like you are running out of system Ram or "System resources" and the game freezes the system up. Once the RAM is allocated, the CPU will go to 100% and lock the system up trying to re-allocate ram to the programs wanting it.

The problem is really on your operating system. You have to reinstall the O.S. of your pc. Have your windows installer ready and repair the damaged operating system and it will go back to normal.
