You don't need any additional software.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

You can connect it to a computer via USB and install the necessary drivers/programs or you can take the SD card out of the camera and put it into a card reader which connects via USB and get the photos off that way.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

You don't need any software. Just get a card reader and upload to a folder you create on your desktop.

try re installing the software again, or maybe its not compatible. try and update via internet

Buy a card reader and stop using a USB cable. Card readers are much faster than USB downloads and work as a hard drive. Cameras do not need software to download onto a computer.

You need to find your original Canon solutions software disk and reinstall it. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place?
