Actually, you don't need software for an USB cable too. If you have Windows XP, it sees your camera right away and would ask you what to do with that device.

If you have a card reader it would be much easier and you do not need any softwares.

Need of Canon digital solution disk Powershot G3 Camera for instaling on Windows 7 (64-bit)

You don't need any additional software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program.

How can i upload photos from a canon powershot A3000 IS

You can connect it to a computer via USB and install the necessary drivers/programs or you can take the SD card out of the camera and put it into a card reader which connects via USB and get the photos off that way.

You don't need any software. Just get a card reader and upload to a folder you create on your desktop.

My camera will not upload any pictures onto my computer. i have all of the correct software uploaded. it used to work correctly and now all of a sudden it will not upload anything.

Buy a card reader and stop using a USB cable. Card readers are much faster than USB downloads and work as a hard drive. Cameras do not need software to download onto a computer.

Hi...I can't download pics from my canon powershot g3...I have a CF card...it worked before...then my computer crashed and had to reinstall XP...do I need to install a photo reader?...or something...

You need to find your original Canon solutions software disk and reinstall it. But if you can't find it, please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Canon G3 powershot

If you only want to copy the images from your G3 onto your PC, you can use the pre-installed Windows XP application (if you have that OS) for that purpose. If you need the full S/W package, please go to the Canon Website;
