Just had this problem on Sunday. For a FRONT loading 3000 series, remove the front bottom panel (three screws - lay on floor and you can see them). There is a plastic can to the left of the pump. The front cover to this can screws on and off. Be prepared for water to gush out and unscrew the cover to the can. There is a filter/trap in there. Clean this out and it should solve the problem. Not sure why the manual does not cover this.

I read this post and sure enough, that was the problem. I had six ponytail holders that had gotten caught in the trap and muck built up around them causing the F21 error message to flash on the washing machine. My husband had me hold a wet/dry shop vacuum to the side of the cap while he slowly unscrewed it. That stopped the water from gushing out and was contained in the shop vac. Once the water stopped flowing, we were able to clean the trap successfully. Thanks for the great solution!
Omg. It really worked. They really should include this in the manual. It was so simple to do. Saved us the cost of a repair man.
LOL, you were right about the water gushing out, I had a flanel blanket near by so soak all the water up, and I cleaned the filter, screwed it back on and it works like nothing ever went wrong, thanks a lot, you have been a huge help.

First un plug machine remove screws from door hinge the machine side not from door shake it lightly and slide it up about 1/4 inch and pull out on door to remove it, and remove same scews from opposite side ov opening, pull tward you on the narrow stips of the front there 2 hooks at the bottom lift off if you have a wet dry vaccume put it at the end of the drain hose to get water left in pump out of it remove wires and hoses from pump take it out and look inside clean out and reverse prosess
Hi
F21 error means that the drain time has exceeded 8
minutes; this will turn off the water valves. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to
clear the display. If errors still remains then please check the drain hose and
make sure it is not plugged or kinked. Disassemble the washer by removing the
back from the washer and check the electrical connections at the pump and make
sure the pump is draining. Also inspect the pump filter for foreign objects.
Before disassembling remember to turn off the power and disconnect the washer.
If it still doesn't help then there is an issue with the pump and you'll need
to replace it. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more
information.
