Started sewing backwards now not moving material at all

Sewing just fine when mid-seam the maching just started sewing BACKWARDS! Used reverse button and sewed forward. Now it won't move material at all even though feed dogs are moving. (I don't think my sewing machine is the one listed below. The model number is SX-2122

Sounds like the machine's age is causing the lubrication to get sticky.

Try changing the pattern by moving the pattern selector around.

Take out the bobbin and remove the thread and presser foot, raise the presser lever, set the pattern to zig zag, set the stitch length to maximum and run the machine at full speed. While it's running, repeatedly press the reverse lever all the way down. Run it for at least a few minutes.

Why does upper thread snap when backstitching?

May be an issue with the feed dogs, or possibly a burr on the hook. Lay a peice of scrap material under the foot as if you were going to sew, remove needle, then run machine in reverse to see if it feeds material backwards as it should

My friend bought jenome sewing machine. It is working very well except that it only sew in reverse (backwards). Could it be that the reverse button got stuck or is there a setting that needs to be done?

button in centre of stitch length control is probably gummed up and stuck lubricate with penetrating oil and wind stich control backwards and forwards to see if centre knob starts to move. Remove arm top cover and do same to mechanism visible from above

I own a Sears Kenmore machine that began sewing backwards

Make sure that the reverse button isn't stuck inside. if all else fails, go back to sears and have them look at it.

Backward stitching

Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.
