How do I remove a main top for frigidaire gas stove model FFGF3047LSE and replace with a new one?

Hey friend, thanks for your post!

I understand that you want instructions on how to remove the main cooktop on your Frigidaire range, FFGF3047LSE. Some of these parts require precision and patience when replacing the exchange of such components or removing them from your appliance, I always suggest seeking professional assistance. One must be very careful as these replacements can lead to potential harm. -Matt

Replacing the ceran glass maintop

Actually if you've removed the 2 or 3 screws at the front (underside) of the cooktop, you can lift up the front. Prop it up with a board, and then remove the 4 screws that hold the 2 brackets that hold the 4 elements to the cooktop. Now pull the cooktop forward a bit, and you should see a green ground wire attached to the back of the cooktop. If not, then don't worry about it! Just pull that cooktop up and off the range. You will need to transfer the 2 tabs in the back of the cooktop, and the silver steel bar located at the front of the top to the new cooktop. Then reverse the process to install the new cooktop and re-fasten the elements to it.

We are in need of a Tech Manual for a VGRT5364G conversion from LP to Nat. Gas. Thanks

Manual exist in the location: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Viking-Range-VGRT536-4G-Ranges-manual/id/23666dj391/t/2/

It clearly mentions that:
"A certified
technician is required for any adjustments or conversions to Natural or LP gas."

So pls dont' try unless you already know (and it seems that you don't)
Safety comes 1st!

My spark module is probably out, but I don't know how to open up the range to look at it/replace it. How is this done?

Most newer ranges with sealed burner cooktops can be a little bit tricky to open. People have a tendency to try and lift the cooktop up like on the older ranges and end up damaging the range and causing a gas leak. The first thing to do is to unplug the range of course. Then start by removing the rear panel of the range. From there you can get a visual feel of what you are up against. With the back panel removed you should be able to see into the top part of the range. Most newer sealed burner cooktops require you to disconnect the screws holding the burner tubes to the bottom of the cooktop. If you do not remove these screws you will break the tubes when you lift the cooktop. Most of the time the screws are removable from the top at the burner heads. Once these screws are removed you should be able to lift the cooktop up. From there the ignition wiring and spark module should be available now for servicing.

How do I replace a burner control on a Whirlpool glass cooktop model GJD3044RB00? I know the control is bad, because the shaft came out of the control [left front]

Turn off circuit breaker to range. Remove the cooktop from the cabinet and tilt it to give access to the control. Remove the nut on the top holding the control in. Diagram wire connections, disconnect wires, install new control, connect wires to new control, put cooktop back into cabinet.

May need to prop up cooktop in tilt position to keep it in place while you work on it.

If you have trouble/question, let me know.

Issues with frigidaire gas range

Return it. You purchased a "usable" gas range. whether it was on clearance or not is immaterial unless you purchased the unit as a non-working unit. If the personnel in the appliance dept. are not willing to exchange the unit, ask to speak to the manager (store Manager, not appliance dept manager). Explain to the manager that you spent your money for a usable range and the range you received is not usable. If the manager is unwilling to exchange the unit, ask him for his full name and the number to the corporate office of Lowe's. Remember, the unit was already exchanged once, so the story they will try to give you is that they only authorize repairs for non-working units is a lie or you would not have been able to purchase the unit you have. If you cannot get a new unit, do call the corporate office with the name of the store manager, explain you were sold a piece of junk that the store knew had problems and that they informed you were corrected. The problems were not corrected and you would have never purchased the range knowing the problems still existed. stand firm, you will get a new range to replace the one you have
