> excellent connectivity

This refers to the wireless connection between your computer & your router, not to the connection from your cable-modem (or DSL-modem) out through your ISP to the Internet.

If you use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem, do you still have "intermittent" problems?
If so, then your router (or other wireless devices, such as your neighbours' router, or your neighbours' wireless telephones that are trying to operate on the same broadcast frequency) is the problem.

Unable to connect to internet

The IP address 192.168.0.1 you use with your browser is not to get into the Dlink WEB page, it is to get into the DLink router configuration, to set up the router and wireless security eg. network SSID, turn off SSID brocast, WEP/WAP encryption, MAC address filtering etc.

Unable to connect wireless

Since you are unable to go via wireless, follow these steps:

1) Access your router configuration pages by typing in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser.
2) Click the tab that says Wireless.
3) Make sure the wireless broadcast option is enabled. If it isn't, enable it and select save settings.
4) Set up the wireless network through your Vista PC by going to Start > Network.
5) At the top of the window, select add a wireless device. Follow the onscreen instructions to add your Linksys Wireless Access Point.
6) Once added, right click on Wireless-G Router (name varies) and select configure. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure your router. (You can find your router pin by following steps 1-2 and selecting Wi-Fi Protected Set up.)
7) Once completed, attempt to connect to the internet via wireless router.

Installation CD

I lost my installation CD and received these instructions from the Belkin Tech Support, and was able to install the Wireless N Router with no problems.
Follow the steps given below for configuring the Belkin N router manually.
- Connect the computer to the "LAN" port on the router and connect the modem to the Internet/"WAN" port, using Ethernet cables.
- Take a paper clip, insert the paper clip in the reset hole of the router and hold it for 15 seconds.
- The power light will flash and then come back "ON" solid, indicating that the router is being restored to factory defaults.
- The corresponding lights on the front of the router should be lit up.
- On the computer, check if you have an IP address in the range of 192.168.2.x.
- If not, specify a static IP address, gateway and "DNS" address by following the steps given in the link-
http://web.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=2824
- Log on to the router web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1, in the address bar of your browser.
- By default, the password is blank.
- Click on "Connection Type" in the left hand column under "Internet WAN" heading.

If the connection type is Dynamic (cable):

- Choose "Dynamic" and then click on "Next".
- Type in your “Host Name”, if you’re Internet Service Provider has provided it. Else, leave it blank.
- Click on "Change WAN MAC Address".
- Click on the button "Clone".
- Click on "Apply Changes".

If the connection type is PPPOE (DSL):

- Choose "PPPOE" and click on "Next".
- Enter the user name and password given by your Internet Service Provider.
- Save the settings.
- Click on the "Home" link at the top of the screen.

Internet Status should show "Connected" on the top right hand corner of the web page.

If the problem persists, please get back to us with the following information:

1. Type of connection provided by your ISP (Is it PPPOE, Dynamic or static).
2. Name of the Internet service provider (ISP).

Adding wireless

for a dsl connection, what you need to do is check first the ip address of the router that you have or the mpdem that is given by your internet service provider. if it has an ip address of 192.168.1.X, then you need to change the ip address of the linksys router to 192.168.2.1 or 10.10.10.1. how to check the ip address? just connect your pc to the device and then open your command prompt, type "ipconfig" then click enter.. just look for the ip address.. also, if it doesn't work, then just set your modem to full bridge mode, your internet service provider will know about that.

CANNOT CONNECT TO INTERNET

in the installation manual you have a url you can type in...its something like 192.428.111.1...ect about 10-12 numbers...type this number in the internet browser search window. this will tell you first if you have access to the internet. you should get the settings windows for your router. there you can make adjustments as needed for your rounter unit.once confirmed.

if you are having access to the wireless network you set up the password you set in is obviously incorrect when it was set up. first check the light on the front of the wireless router it should have various light on ..such as power,,usb...dsl...and internet..with the internet light flashing... as a precaution please do a repair connection on your internet access point on the computer ur using..right click the wireless icon at the bottom of your screen if ur using xp..sometimes this repair will be just enough to clear up issues.and allow access.

if this continues...you may need to reinstall the unit...there is generally a reset button (very small) on the underside of ur wireless unit and take the appropriate steps..

Wireless conections

Try the http://192.168.1.1 to access the router config page (needs Ethernet cable to be connected to the Router)
If config page still does not appear, then check your Internet Explorer settings> Security Level (not set to custom) If it is, then choose RESET ALL ZONES TO DEFAULT LEVEL and then try this address again. It worked for me.
