HP Officejet 6500 No scan Options

HP Officejet 6500 XP "No scan Options". "Populate destination list" instruction in "Help" fails, since "Scan to... Setup" does not bring up any menu or "Destination List". Uninstall/Reinstall doesn't change that.

I am trying to scan, but when I press the scan button it states "No scan options. Refer to device doc to troubleshoot". However, I can't find my device doc. I am assuming there is an easy fix?

It's not your HP Software is the problem. It's your system, are there any updates needed to your system and usually lack of support plug-ins capable to bring your HP Printer show normal.
Scanning procedure is hardware capability, without the Printer appearance and the software provided is you cannot use then. Unlink printing options is in Memory Printer. Automatic Print outs. But scanning too many procedure and assistants. Even you said Uninstall/Reinstall doesn't change, right!
All i have to say is put your System back to where it's you think work good. Use System Restore to do it.
Good luck!

I cant scan, but I can print?

hi,

I understand that your mean issue is that "you cant scan", however, for me to assist you better, I just want to know how did you scan? and what did you use? there are actually two ways on how to scan. Also, what is the operating system of your computer?
1. Scanning using the buttom from the printer.
2. Scanning using the SOlution Center installed on your computer.

Meanwhile, ill just post a troubleshooting steps inorder for you to follow.

SOLUTION: SCANNING FROM THE PRINTER BUTTON.

Intro:
Scanning using the printer button without adding the destination list would somehow give you error message "NO SCAN OPTIONS", inorder to resolve that issue, copy and paste this link to the address bar. (note: just go directly to SOLUTION II (Populate Destination List) using that document.)

For windows Vista:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01391654&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1153481

For windows XP:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01388134&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1153481

Those are the link that normally we followed. It helps a lot, you can jump directly to SOLUTION II (Populate Destination List), make sure that all the options are already added to your control panel printer list.

Please let me know if the document failed to resolve your issue so that i can go ahead and give you another solution.

Thank you so much.
