Before you do anything else i think you need to check the engine is mechanically sound, remove the muffler, take a look at the piston skirt through the open port, any signs of scuffing on the piston and it will require removing the cylinder to assess the damage, they are x torq engines, due to the way the air ports work they are quite prone to carboning in the piston rings, make sure it has plenty of compression.

The chain is driven by a gear.remove the cover of the chain, while the saw is idle, the chain is probably slipping off of the drive gear causing the chain to "lockdown",if this is your problem, that gear will have to be replaced.Any small engine repair shop in your neighborhood can perform this task for you.

Wont stay running. it idles kinda high. stays running with the choke on. pull the trigger 2 giv it gas it dies.

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other problems. The idle speed screw (turned CCW) will slow the engine down. Hope this helps!

My 345 chainsaw bogs down when it hits wood

There are two idle screws one high, and one low. Your high adjustment idle screw needs to be adjusted.
