Here's a online free manual you can download and print for a Tanaka post hole digger, as your title stated that's what you have.

However, I noticed that you wrote you have a Badger Plus auger, so I tried to find info on that, but a manual doesn's exist outside the manufacturer, you can call them to see if they'll mail you one.

I's suggest you look at the gearbox, as it sounds as if you've sheared a key inside the gearbox on the main drive shaft, based on your description. The gear box is straightforward with a simple 12:1 gear reduction ratio and uses only two (2) gear wheels and shafts.

I couldn't attach the picture but here's a link that will show the gear box, just scroll down once it loads. It should be easy to open and repair the gearbox, as there isn't much to it. Drain the gear oil and separate the halves and you can check for a sheared key on either of the gear wheels and replace the broken one. They're designed to shear to prevent damaging the more expensive gear wheels, etc.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I'm not sure what your using for posts and I'm assuming you mean the ground freezes and the posts start to move because the ground can't hold them in place anymore. You should be using 4x4 pressure treated posts and a lot of them depending how big your car port will be. You to dig about 2 foot holes only about 6-8 inches around for each post and then you need to pour concrete in each hole around the post (Note:make sure the post is straight and stays straight).

how to verify my email address? (sic) Well, Usually you go to a location, that the Confirmation reply, from the place where you made your email account with, that sends your "Confirmation Link" so that you can reply, and authenticate yourself, from their communication, and confirm, you are you. They know this as only you would know where to go, to get the authorization, number, word, or email link, Usually, the confirmation, request, is sent to an alternate email address, ANY EMAIL you request, when asked where to send confirmation details, or to a cellphone number, or even an address by mail. Then as said you communicate that information, or click on a "Link" provided, and then your details, are "Confirmed" and your account will then be active.

You will need to pour a substantual footing under your posts
I would suggest using Sonet Tubes of at least 12 inches and 24" deep, setting on at least 8" of 3/4 minus gravel, then fill tubes with a good 5 or 6 bag mix of concrete, once it sets surround the concrete with gravel well tamped, You can install connector plates for your posts in the top of the concrete.
You need to have enough weigh and surface so that the water and soil cannot heave the footing

I pick up a power head from the junk yard this past weekend. The unit was made by Feldmann Mfg. and engineering. I believe this is the same company that manufactures Jiffy ice augers. I paid $3 for it. It looks like it is from the 50's or 60's. It was complete except for the auger. The motor was froze from sitting, but after disasembling, cleaning, cutting new gasket, freeing the rings and numerous other problems I got it running. I found augers in the Northern hydraulics catalog in sizes from 3" to 12". They are for earth and the 8" was $139.99. You would need to contact them for the shaft size to see if it will fit in the power head you have.
