This may sounds obvious but have you forwarded the correct ports through sonicwall for your VPN? If you have, do you have any QoS running, it could be worth checking that VPN has priority over VoIP etc. Do you get disconnects all the time or is it only during busy periods? You may be overloading your server, perhaps it's time for more RAM.
Toredo tunneling adapters are the basis for VPN tunnels; built around the VPN standards introduced into very early versions of windows.
Windows NT and 2000 infact; used a central 'stack' to handle dial up connections; XP still uses it and Windows 7 emulates it... so these technologies are still true in todays world. It's all part of RASDIAL..

Firewall ports need to be opened. Log into router and turn on DMZ to your computer. Find your IP address on your machine 192.168.X.X and put that into DMZ settings or open up appropriate ports for VPN
The problem looks with the Nortel VPN. VPN software blocks all other Internet connections when started. This way they create a secure, encrypted tunnel from your pc to the destination pc and does not allow the other connections -Firefox, Chrome etc- to perform. The non performing Internet applications mean less threats online (e.g. nobody can exploit a flaw in Firefox and reach your VPN connection).
If the problem is that the browsers do not function even after you stop the VPN connection, it may be that the VPN software is still running in the background. You can make Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up the running processes and see if the VPN is running in the background. If yes, turn it off.
