Hi there SWCopiers,

Four flashes indicates 'Ink tanks installed incorrectly' or 'Printer needs repair'.

Click here for iP90 ink tank install procedure.

Click here for instruction on contacting Canon Support. They have been very helpful. If it turns out that one of your ink tanks is faulty, they have replaced them at no cost in the past.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: flashing 4 orange lights

The power light flashing orange four times consecutively means that one, or both, of the inktanks is/are installed incorrectly. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

  1. Check to make sure that the ink tanks are locked into position (you might remove and reinstall them just to make sure).
  2. Turn the printer off with the power button, unplug the data cable (most likely usb) and the power cable and let it sit for at least 10 minutes (this resets all of the sensors that may be causing the problem). Then plug in the power cable and data cable and turn the printer back on.
  3. If that doesn't fix it then it means that it is a hardware issue and that your printer is in need of repair, at least that's what canon will tell you but now days it's usually cheaper just to buy a new printer and you don't have to go to the trouble of finding a repair center and taking it there and waiting days to get it back.

SOURCE: why flash by 5 times the orange led?

Probably your waste ink counter should be cleaned or replaced before resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER

0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.

This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

Good Luck, I hope this helps?!

I can not get my printer to print. The yellow and green lights continue to flash. My printer is a canon ip90

hello, if you count the number of blinks green-orange=1, the amount of blinks will give the error, or where to look, normally 5 blinks will be printhead, 7 will be waste pak will need replacement, there are a few more, but these are the common ones, if you can find a printer repair place, they should be able to work on these, they are somewhat simple.
