Windows Vista computer. 2. During installation, you'll be prompted
to connect the printer to your computer. Choose the option to proceed
with installation without connecting the printer. 3. After installation completes, open the
Printers wizard from the Windows Vista Control Panel. 4. Right click on the entry for the new
printer, and choose Properties. 5. Go to the Ports tab. 6. Click Add Port, select Local Port, then
click New Port. 7. For the port name, enter the network path
and share name of your printer ("\\TheirComputer\TheirPrinter1"). 8. Click OK, and verify that the new port is
selected. 9. Click OK to close the printer properties.

the ink may have dried out in the machine. Take a Qtip and rubbing alcohol and clean out the baby pipe inside the printer that stabs the ink cartridge and sucks the ink out of the cart. This may solve your problem. If not, open up windows paint (press "windows key" and "R" then type mspaint (enter)) and print a large square of magenta to try and get the printer to squirt out any goo in there. The alcohol will dillute and dissolve and magenta ink **** in the piping. This may not work, due the amount of dried ink, but it usually does. If not, flip the printer up and let the alcohol drip down into the piping for a hour or so. use a qtip or eye dropper to get alc in the pipe. Unfortunately, due to the price of this printer (<$90) it is not worth repair beyond that level. Parts would probably cost more, if brother even makes them available.
