My refridgerator was not cooling iny the fridge and over iving in the freezer, which is on top. I unplugged the unit for 48 hours. After a thorough cleaning, i plugged it back in. Let it go 24 hours before adding food. I suspect the freezer will ice up again. I suspect air flow not getting thru because the back wall is condensating. Kenmore Coldspot fridge Model #1069651784

SOURCE: ice build up in back section of a Whirlpool no frost top freezer refrigerator 66"hx30"wx27"d

your sure the defrost cycle works? sounds to me its not. you need to remove the freezer back and check the defrost components. or put it in the defrost cycle and see if it is working. to get that much frost as you describe the dor would have to be left open. also check all door seals. let me know what you find and we can go from there

SOURCE: Sears Kenmore ColdSpot Frostfree Frosting up/Not working

You have a defrost problem. You need to determine which one of the parts is faulty. The defrost timer on that model should be behind the kick plate in the center front underneath. If you turn the little knob by hand you will hear a load click when it gets to the defrost point and the unit should shut off. Check in the bottom of the freezer to listen for water sizzleing or for water running down. If it is the timer is not advancing and needs replaced. If not you will have to take the back off the inside of the freezer to see if it is the heater or the defrost thermostat. Unhook power before taking panel off or replacing any parts.

SOURCE: Kenmore Model # 596.735032.. Fridge is cool, Freezer is not freezing

After pulling the fridge away from the wall and removing the lower right hand panel I noticed that the compressor (big round black ball with copper tubing) was not turning on. I also noticed that there was a ticking or popping sound comming from it every couple of minutes or so. After doing some research online in numerouse forums I decided to try and replace the overheat relay that is attached to the compressor. It only took maybie five minutes at most to change it and the compressor is now working with nice cold air comming into the fridge and freezer. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

Kenmore Model 596.75513400. Can hear refridgerator motor running, but both top and freezer are thawing out. The settings for both are on maximum cold (7). What do you think?

Sounds like your defrost timer may have gone bad. Feel your walls and if they
are hard with no give then the fridge is froze up solid not allowing any air to
circulate. Neverless try this: Unplug for 24-48 hours. Place towels on floor to **** up
water. Plug back in. If the fridge gets cold then the defrost timer is bad. This will also reset your fridge.
Unfortunately this is not a cheap fix and consideration may have to be given on
replacing your unit.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. Don't forget to rate me.

Fridge not cooling

In the freezer compartment on the back wall there is a panel , behind that panel is the evaporator coil and return air ducts that go up to the fridge.
these ducts freeze up, thus not allowing the cold air to circulate to the refridgerator. You can unplug the unit overnight and let it defrost on its own, or you can help it using a blowdryer for a couple of hours. just lay the blowdryer in the freezer area with the doors open and let it defrost.be sure to place an old towel on the bottom to catch the water.

Whirlpool Side by Side: Freezer freezes refrig doesn't cool.

check for a blockage. There is only one cooling section, divided by airflow for freezer / fridge.
Perhaps something sticky is in the vents, or the freezer section has poor airflow, resulting in ice formation.
Unplug the unit for several hours, clean out vents, and make sure freezer section has good airflow from the vents.

Freezer in nice and cold but refridgerator is not

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

Refridge compartment warm not cooling

I hope the following helps.

Turn the entire control system off for at least two minutes. This will give the computer module time to reset to factory default. Turn of to desired level after two minutes. Should that not work then there is a problem with the timing relay. They relay is brand specific, meaning take the model number to the parts store for a new one.

Your compressor should be fine. You may also remove the power by unplugging the refrig.

CAUTION: Before removing the relay the power to the fridge must be OFF. Failure to have it in the off postion can cause the new relay to short which can lead to mkore problems. So UNPLUG the fridge, remove the relay, replace the relay and then plug fridge back min. Set control to desired cooling level and wait a couple hours. That should do the trick.. IF not then there is an issue with the processor module.

Fridge not working

I've had this happen to my Kenmore 73503 several times. The 1st time took me a few hours to figure out what the problem was.

Basically the fridge is cooled from the freezer, so when you say your freezer is -2 degrees, it's a big tip off to the problem.

If you look very close in the freezer compartment at the back, you'll notice an opening with a little door at the top of the freezer compartment. This opening extends up the inside of the back of the fridge to the top of the fridge area via a square plastic tube.

Basically what happens in my fridge is the family loads the freezer to high especially at the top/back. This restricts or closes off the opening for the cold air to the fridge portion of the appliance ....resulting in a warm fridge, but cold freezer. Just remove the articles at the back of the freezer to correct problem. (It will take a few hours for the cold air to cool the fridge down)

Note: the temperature control unit in the fridge area controls the little door at the top of the freezer compartment, so if you haven't blocked off the opening, the next place to look would be either at the mechanical parts of the little door or the temperature control unit itself in the fridge

Refridgerator is not cooling properly

Ours does this too; it says its 34 degrees but really its 53-58 degrees. . . The compressor coolant part of the machine freezes and then it can't circulate the cold air to cool the fridge. You have to unplug it for at least 24 hours to let it thaw, or you can take out the lower drawers and shelves, unscrew and remove the lower back pannel (from the inside of the fridge). We use a blow dryer to thaw out the ice block that formed on the unit. It goes faster if it is unplugged, this fridge is horrible we lost hundreds of dollars in groceries before we figured out the problem.

Kenmore refridgerator c1065094881

It sounds like your defrost cycle has stopped working. unplug your fridge for 24 hours and let it defrost. plug it back after 24 hour and if it starts to cool in the fridge part at about 40 degrees F. you will have to replace one of three parts the Defrost Timer, Defrost Themo or Defrost Element. I hope this helps you.
