Hi,

Just cross check the volume settings in volume controls. All the sliders should be at max level specially Volume Control and CD Player.

If it is fine then there is some thing wrong with the media you are trying to watch or can be problem with audio driver.

While playing DVDs on my PC I get music and sound effects but no voice or extremly low voice. If I crank up speakers and PC volume to 100% I can barely hear vocals and they sound like they are in a 50...

1) Could be your speaker connections and balance settings.
2) Could be the balance settings on your PC audio contoler, you'll need to go into your sound options.
3) Could be the vocoders or lack thereof in you DVD player software. Try VLC Media Player, its free from here:- http://www.filehippo.com/download_vlc/

No voices when watching dvds

voices come out through the "center" speaker. Check that connection (both on the speaker and DVD player)

Have to turn the volume to 80-100 to hear the tv in my bedroom

If it's just playing DVD's that the volume is low some DVD players have their own volume control.
You could look at the back of your tv and see if the dvd or psp is hooked up to a "line in" or a 'variable' input. The Line in is a constant audio source. The variable will be also affected by the volume on the TV.

Volume is not working

get a splitter that allows you to plug 2 sets of headphones in the portable dvd player.

The sound is the only place were this machine falls short. The sound is okay at best with the built in speakers, but any background noise makes it nearly impossible to hear anything from them even with the volume all the way up. Not surprising since due to the size of the player the speakers are only a little bigger then headphone speakers, but with headphones or portable plug-in speakers the sound is superb. Besides the sound the only 2 complaints are that you can not control the volume with the remote and that the power switch is too easily turned on by accident (do not travel with the battery attached or you will find you have no charge when it comes time to watch a movie). The battery lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, long enough for 2 short movies or 1 long one.

also checkout The volume button is on the right side of the uint.

, headphones are a must, or get a device to play the audio through your car stereo ($15-$25). The player has the option to either input or output the A/V so you could play video games on the run or you could hook up a VCR and watch VHS...be creative

Volume low when watching dvd

Not much you can do about this. The movie industry sets movies to low volume when recording for better sound. They expect you to have the equipment to boost the sound. This cuts down on their outside noise. Only solution for this is to install external speakers as I have done for my movie or TV playing (I installed a TV adapter so I could hook up a projector and display the BIG game outside) but as you say, we couldn't hear it until I hooked up external speakers.

Remote Sensor

Start a DVD playing, cover the IR sensor on the DVD player with something opaque. Try changing the volume, the player should keep playing. Your TV, surround sound, and DVD player have conflicting IR codes. The DVD player probably does not use a discreet IC to filter the IR sensor, and the processor in the DVD player is having to look at all the IR codes picked up by the IR sensor. Go to Walmart or KMart and buy a new DVD player for $29.00 or stop changing the volume while watching DVDs :) Sorry, there's no real solution that I know of. Paul.
