TV worked fine while it was on. Shut it off for dinner. When I turned it back on, I heard the power kick on but all I got was a blinking red LED in the power window. Ive unplugged the set for 10 minutes hoping for a reset, Yeah, Right. There are no burnt smells.

Dead, led flashing red/green at first, then going to red standby
Replace C604 (1000uF, 16v) elec. cap. It is in the decoupling circuit for the 5 volt supply
Red led blinks on / off, TV does not turn via power button and/or remote but after 20 minutes or so it turns on and works fine
Replace R902, R901, R905, R903, R900A, Q902, and possibly the two (one small and one large) capacitors in the section labeled as the power supply. The board will be black under the components that are bad. Q902 is an NPN transistor and is hard to find.

When switching on the tv the on light is flashing from red to green and there is a clicking sound as though it is switching on and off. Any suggestions as we have no picture or sound.

Hello
It may be due to some sort of short in the horizontal output stage inside your TV. You just check the horizontal output transistor, can be located near to the Line Output Transformer [LOT]. It is the transistor that drives the LOT. Check whether it heats up abnormally or not. Anyway keep it out desoldered and check it for any leak. Especially its collector to base leak. If it is found leaky, replace it with the same type and number. If the replaced transisor also overheats, LOT is short. Replace the LOT also with Same Type and Number. Insist on same type and number. Never use substitutions. It is the most critical component in your TVs circuit. Ok
Have any further clarification, report to Fixya. They will give me alert.
Take all precautions before opening your tv by yoursef. Keep chldren away from you. let an adult beside you while you are working as a precaution. Never use metal chair while in work. Wear rubber or plastic footwear while working.

My Panosonic TV Model# PT-47WX42F will not turn on. It clicks like it wants to turn on but does not. The power light is flashing 5 times

5 blinks is error code for short on 140 volt line inside the set; it usually means the Horz output transistor is shorted. If you have a ohm meter (used for checking fuses etc) there is a simple test to see if this is the problem.

Also associated with this is a bad capacitor near it (Location for the Transistor is C509 and the transistor should be location Q551)

Location numbers are printed on top of board near part; both parts are on (as seen from back) far right board near the large black part with big red wire coming out of the top.

Transistor is just to the left of it and cap forward about 3 inches.

If this information told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

SONY KP-61V90 tv will not power on, red light in front,

Its 2 times blink error code that shows +B volt supply (+135 volts) is shorted, most probably horizontal output transistor is shorted, replace it.
If you are good in soldering parts in circuit board then take out horizontal transistor, check it, found shorted then replace it with same number.

Horizontal output Transistor Q502 number is 2SD2578 and available in Part Store for $10
Let me know for further query, if any.
Thanks.

SONY TV MODEL kv-27s40 BLINKING RED LIGHT 2 BLINKS

The 2 blinks usually mea an over current problem. Perhaps the most common cause of this is a shortde Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT). If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. Realize that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside the set even when unplugged. Look for a 3-legged ransistor attached to a heatsink close to the flyback (part with large red wire coming out the top). The part will be marked C5438 or something similar. Post that marking here nad I'll confirm the entire part number.

Keep us posted.

Toshiba 36HF71 has sound but no picture

Same problem with mine. Relays click, sound, no picture and a flashing power LED. I finally found a schematic online. I went through the high voltage circuits and found the power transistor 2SC5570 was shorted out. There is also a pico fuse in that area but my was not open. I replaced the transistor and prayed the flyback transformer was not shorted. It wasn't, I'm watching my old 36" right now. Not a bad fix (17.00) bucks. Wonder what a service tech would have charged ;)

IS-TVHD30

I fixed the problem with the "no power on, low clicking noise". The NPN transistor (2SC5931) was shorted. This transistor controls the horizontal hold. The shorting caused the power supply to overload and restart, then recycle. This was the cause of the clicking noise. Unfortunately this transistor was over $50, most likely due to the extinction of CRT's. I did find a replacement transistor 2SC5552, which only cost $2 (but I was able to get it in Mexico). The location of the transistor is located on the left side of the TV (looking from the back). Directly in front of it is the high voltage transformer which powers the CRT (should have a thick red wire). The transistor is attached to a large aluminum heatsink. To remove the transistor you will have to remove the entire electronics assembly to you can easily get to the underside. This was the solution for my TV, but there could be other components damaged.

Sony KV-32HS510, worked perfect, turned on the next day and all I gat is flashing red light.

Your tv does not need a reset, what happened something went bad inside the set and it needs to be replaced,if you are familiar with tv service you can start by checking the horizontal output transistor for a short,if he went bad it likely made the fuse or safety resistor open.If you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and call for assistance froma servicer. If you decide to go in looking for problems make sure the set is not plug in.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.
