Sony KV-20FS12 shuts off after being turned on, stand by/time light blinks

the blinking is actually an error code. watch the blinking closely and you will see it blink a number of times pause briefly then blink the same number of blinks over and over. If you let me know the number of blinks I can tell you why the set isnt powering up.

My Sony KV-32XBR35 start by making a sound and all

Hello
There is some loose or bad soldering on the printed circuit board of your Sony tv. These usually occurs with the solderings at the terminals of components which will heat up when it works. Some resistors in the power retulator side, and the terminals of the power regulator itself must be checked out.
Just pull out the power supply board, and check whether there is any loose soldering or not. Probably, solderings at the terminals of these board will get loose contacted, as the components in this section will heat up more than other sections. Usually, Sony uses STRs in the power supply sections, as they are very accurate in power regulating. If iny one of its terminal soldering gets bad, power regulation will be poor, and the system control IC, actually it is microcontroller, will detect the situatin, and will switch off the whole system, and that is happening now in your Tv.
More saying, the loose soderings are very difficult to detect, and I advice you to resolder the suspected and all points if you can, by applying a little more solder, without shorting the adjecent terminals each other. You must have a concept of soldering to do this work.
Check the low voltage power regulators fitted on the main board, usually numbered 7812, and 7808, which are three terminal small regulators, which supplies the secondary voltage to the main board ICs. They also will be screwed on ot a metal heatsink, as they also will heat up during working.

I'm sure that the complaint of your TV is due to some loose or bad solderings itsef. All the components are working, that is why you see intermittent picture on your Tv.
Just do the things as i adviced, and inform me the relult through Fixya. Feel free to get me through Fixya. OK.

I HAVE SONY TRINITRON MODEL

Hello

Your TVs horizontal sweep section does't works. it may be due to the fault of LOT [Line Output Transformer] or is related circuits. If you have some knoledge in electronics you can check these by yourself. I doesn't understand the problem correctly, because I don't know the language you expressed. Anyway I advice you these, and you just try to do it.
Open your TV, and locate its power regulator section. It can be located easly, as AC power diretly goes in to that section. There will be small transformer, and is called SMPS transformer, which gives voltage to the rest of the circuit You just measure its secondary side DC voltages. There must be a 130VDC point there. Check whether this voltage is present or not. You should have a multimter to measure this.
If this voltage is Ok, then go to the LOT side, that is the Line Output Transformer, that connected one of its wire directly to the picture tube, with a rubber ******. This is a stepup transformer, which works at 15626Hz oscillator drive frequency. The above said 130VDC will go diretly to it, after a resistor or so, and this 130VDC is only meant for working this transformer.
If it is not there, follow the printed track, and find where it breaks, and retify the problem. If it is there,a nd still your
tv has no picutre, it needs further checkups, and will have a perfect knowldege in electronics, and have ablility to follow the schematic diagram of the TV.
Anyway you just understand my language, and try to rectify your problem. If you want further assistance, please be free enough to do so, and get me through Fixya.
Please express your ideas and wants, in English language, even though there will be some mistakes on your expressions, I'll understand it and will give you replay. OK.

I purchased a sony kv-27s40 tv yesterday at a yard

Hi barbyarn
To answer your question;
What it sounds like is that your tv might have developed loose solder joint during the move home.
You can try to tap the side or the rear of the tv to confirm that.
In case of bad solder, my advice would be to call different repair shops around with that diagnostic and ask their prices for the repair.
It should`nt be more than 60 to 70$ if you bring it in.
Hope this help Good luck

My Sony Trinitron CRT TV is not powering up.

I had one of these in the 36" version blinking 4 times but it was not the vertical. It was the color amp ic at the crt board that was shorted and an open resistor. The repair for this, if my diagnosis is correct, should not be more than $100. Ask for an estimate though to be on the safe side. Thanks for using fixya.

I have a rainbow of color about the screen

sounds like a degaussing (magnetizing) problem.could be that the posistor inside the TV set got loose when the tv fell down. If you have experience soldering electronic components, you should be able to fix it by re-soldering. Otherwise, call a tv tech to do it.

Sony shuts off after being turned on, stand by/timer light blinks

The blinking should be in a pattern of a count, pause, count. That is an indication of the problem circuit. Can you post that count please? That info will allow me to give you possible defective parts and costs for the repair.

Thanks,
Dan

KV27S42 dead - 4 blinks

the +13 and -13 are generated by the flyback transformer as well as the 200 volts. the 135 is your B+ voltage and sould be there at start up. check the HOT and the Flyback. if there is no 135v check IC1751 on the C board sometimes if bad it loads down the 135v line. and can give a faulse vertical error.

SONY TV MODEL kv-27s40 BLINKING RED LIGHT 2 BLINKS

The 2 blinks usually mea an over current problem. Perhaps the most common cause of this is a shortde Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT). If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. Realize that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside the set even when unplugged. Look for a 3-legged ransistor attached to a heatsink close to the flyback (part with large red wire coming out the top). The part will be marked C5438 or something similar. Post that marking here nad I'll confirm the entire part number.

Keep us posted.

I don't know if my sony trinitron kv-2742 27" tv needs a box

Given the history of the aquirement, I checked the model number and there is no reference to be able to receive digital. You can buy a convertor box anytime they are available to use on the set. There is no deadline to hook it up.

Tv wont stop changing channels

ok, Sony had this issue on their early production. The problem you are having is called a leaky switch. The volume down switch on the TV is leaky. To fix this you must replace the switch. This part is called the switch block. Part number 1-473-549-21

Average cost $26
