Hi, I have a Dyson DC56 with a lithium battery for about 18 months and I leave it plugged into it's charger when not in use. I do notice the Dyson charger seems to switch off automatically when charged. I don't have any problems so far. It you have a Genuine Dyson Lithium battery and the genuine Dyson charger it should not be a problem. That is because Lithium batteries have very precise requirements for their charging cycles and therefore the correctly designed charger required to make them work safely is a somewhat intelligent design and needs to be of good quality in having to meet those requirements. So use the original Dyson Charger. Also most high current Lithium Batteries will also have a protection circuit built in further increasing safety and reliability. Just don't use cheap cloned Chinese made Lithium chargers, because you will never know if they have been designed or even will operate correctly.
Now if you have old technology Ni Cad (Nickel Cadmium), LA (Lead acid) or NiMH batteries with basic cheap chargers they should not really be left connected to a charger full time.

My Dyson is fully charged but it is missing?

Hi Linda, it's Allan at Dyson.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is here or what you mean by 'missing'.

I would recomment contacting the Dyson Helpline to discuss the problem so they can offer advice.

Keeps stopping even though I have taken it apart and checked for blockages. +

Are you sure your wall charger is working ok? You might just have a bad battery pack in the sweeper if your charger is working. Do you have a friend who knows electronics and has a voltmeter?

If so, have them check the voltage output of the charger at the plug that goes into the sweeper. Verify that the charger is indeed working ok. Then you will need to check the voltage on the battery pack inside the sweeper to see if your battery is good and holding a charge. A mechanical blockage could be something caught in the vacuum fan blade. You should be able to hold the main part of the sweeper up to your ear so you can hear and then pull the sweeper trigger and see if you can hear the motor try to start. Nothing happening may mean a dead battery pack. Regards, Dennis

Is charger not working?

If you have a DC voltmeter and can see the contacts in the charger, you may be able to see it the charger has a output. But with the newer electronics for battery charging, the battery may need to be in the charger to get a reading. My guess is you do have a bad charger.

DC 44 animal wont charge. Charge light comes on then off after about 30 seconds.

Hi Darren, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty recharging your DC44 Animal. It should charge from flat within 5.5 hours when connected to the charger assembly, or placed in the docking station, as shown in the video above.

The charge light will turn off once the battery is fully charged. If it seems to be shutting off prematurely, we would need to take you through some quick diagnostic checks when you have the machine to hand. This will help us confirm what may be needed to resolve the issue.

Please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA), to speak directly with our team of experts.

Best wishes,
