Hi there Antoinette, it's Jack at Dyson.
If your DC44's brush bar won't rotate, it sounds like we may need to talk you though some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine fully charged and easily to hand. This will help us determine if there's an issue with the motorised floor tool itself, or with the wand or main body.
If a replacement part is needed, we should also be able to confirm whether this is covered under our free 2-year parts and labour guarantee.
When convenient, please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).
We'll look forward to speaking with you!

Are you sure your wall charger is working ok? You might just have a bad battery pack in the sweeper if your charger is working. Do you have a friend who knows electronics and has a voltmeter?
If so, have them check the voltage output of the charger at the plug that goes into the sweeper. Verify that the charger is indeed working ok. Then you will need to check the voltage on the battery pack inside the sweeper to see if your battery is good and holding a charge. A mechanical blockage could be something caught in the vacuum fan blade. You should be able to hold the main part of the sweeper up to your ear so you can hear and then pull the sweeper trigger and see if you can hear the motor try to start. Nothing happening may mean a dead battery pack. Regards, Dennis
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC65's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions and removed any threads or hair from the brush bar, you should be able to reset your machine as shown in the video:
There's no physical reset button - the reset mechanism is built into the main on/off and brush control switches. Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when your machine is standing upright, so recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.
If you need any further advice from our experts after giving this a try, you're welcome to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). In the unlikely event that a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson parts and labour guarantee.
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
Depending on the age of your particular DC44, the battery will be held in place either by a round silver clip, or fixed in place by two screws.
If you have the version with the clip, simply pressing this will allow
the battery to be removed and replaced. The new battery will clip into place.
If you have the version with the screws, you would need to undo these to remove the battery. One screw is above the charger connection on the handgrip, and the other is behind the washable pre-filter. To access the screw behind the pre-filter, please follow the steps to remove the filter shown in our filter washing video guide:
If you'd like any further help or advice with this, you're welcome to get in touch with our experts directly by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
We have had to return 2 of the same units and are on our 3rd one. So as far as I know they can't be fixed. They took it back no questions except of course, why I was returning it.
Hi Kim, it's Jack at Dyson.
If your DC44's motorised cleaner head doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, it sounds as if there is a blockage somewhere. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc44/dc44-animal/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/removing-blockages-from-the-power-floor-tool
The video I've attached should also help you check for and remove any threads, hair or debris caught around the brush bar.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC44 Animal. It's normal for air to blow out of the back of the machine - this is where the exhaust air is returned to the room after passing through the cyclone pack. However, if your machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual and you've recently washed the filter, this may be due to a blockage. To check the motorised carbon fibre floor tool, wand and bin inlet for any obstructions, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc44/dc44-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual-dc44/no-resolved-redirect-to-check-the-wand/check-wandThe motorised carbon fibre floor tool is driven by it's own motor, rather than the machine's airflow. If it isn't rotating, the video attached should help you locate anything which could be jamming the brush bar. Make sure you remove any threads or hair from around the brush bar carefully using scissors, taking care to avoid causing any damage to the bristles.I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like some further help you can reach the Dyson customer Helpline directly by calling us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).Best wishes,Jack - Dyson Online Customer Supporthttp://www.dyson.com
