Hi Jayne, it's Jack at Dyson.

From what you've described, it sounds like there may be an issue with the locking arm that holds your DC25's cleaner head in place when the machine is upright. This should retract when you recline the vacuum, but doesn't sound like it's doing so in your case.

We'd be happy to provide further advice on this, and if a repair is needed we can provide further details on this. We'd also be able to confirm whether any repairs needed are covered under your free Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

When you have your DC25 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

How do I hook up the upholstery attachment on a Hoover Spin Scrub 50?

To connect the upholstery tool, first remove the clean water tank by pressing down on the handle and pulling the tank forward. Remove the hose from the storage rack. Press down on the handle release lever and lower the handle to the ground. Unlatch the back part of dirty water tank and remove the lid. Pull the dirty water tank's front panel up about an inch and rotate the panel to parallel with the floor. Replace the panel with the converter and slide it halfway down until it is firmly in place. Pull the collar on the connecting tube towards the tube so that the black tabs are fully extended. Open the door on the hood labeled Stair/Upholstery cleaning connection and press the round solution tube onto the round projection. Press the collar firmly to ensure that the tube is connected. Replace the tank in a hinge-like manner and place the lid under the tabs on the front of the tank. Rotate the lid down onto the tank.

Now slide the upholstery tool on the connector of the hose until the tab locks into place.

The manual for the Spin Scrub 50 is available on the Hoover product page: http://hoover.com/products/details/fh50044/steamvac-spin-scrub-50-carpet-washer-with-tools/ . The direct link to the manual is http://hoover.com/file/1195/ . The directions are on page 14-15.

I hope this helps.

When I release the red bar to Hoover the section that holds the bush bar won't lie flat to the floor? Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I would disassemble the hinge section and see what is causing the problem. Sounds like something has either broke or gotten caught in the hinge mechanism.

Self Propel doesn't work on Hoover Wind Tunnel

Your self propel wire could be broken. Lean the vacuum back like you were using it. If you stand in front of the vacuum look down and to your left. When you move the selp propel button you should see a wire move. If not then it's broken.

Bad on/off switch hoover U6476

It's probably the power switch. My switch was dicey for a couple years, finally gave out. Easy to replace.

Remove the two screws just above the WARNING on the rear of the upper handle assembly, then slide the whole assembly to the rear of the vacuum.

Remove the dust bag cover. You will see two holes just above the upper corners of the dust bag. Remove the screws from these recessed screw holes.

Open the furniture cleaner cover and remove the cleaner attachment. Remove the single screw that was hidden behind the attachment. Then remove the attachment housing by pulling it towards the front of the vacuum.

Inside you will see the rear of the power switch. Pull off the power wires (don't worry, easy on/off male/female connectors, no soldering).

The switch is held in by tension bars at the upper and lower rear of the switch. Firmly press down on one of both of the upper/lower tension bars, and push the switch through the housing from the rear of the switch.

Replacement part number is 28161067, about $2.50. Shop will charge about $85 to repair it themselves.
