How do I change my tv to hdmi - Sanyo DS31520 31" TV

Assuming the DVD player has an HDMI port, run an HDMI cable from the DVD player to an available HDMI port on the TV. Let's say you have your TV service going to HDMI #1 on the TV, you can run the DVD to HDMI #2. When you want to watch a DVD, you must select the input/source on the TV remote to change it to HDMI 2(or whichever port you used). When ready to watch TV again, use the same button to change back to HDMI 1 (or whichever HDMI port you used for TV service). If you do not have an HDMI port on the DVD player, then you must use whatever type of connection it has and connect to the corresponding port(s) on your tv, Then follow same directions as above regarding choosing the input/source on the TV remote.

Be aware HDMI is not one standard. They keep changing the protocols and keep the same cables and connectors. See what HDMI standard your devices are compliant with, to make sure they can work together.

the cable may have trouble

Based on what you're saying it can only be a few things.
Trying putting the HDMI cable into a different port on the tv and change input.
Try changing the HDMI cable.
If that doesn't work, change over to component cables, change TV input again and see if that works.

That's highly unlikely!!! More likely is that the cable is having problems or that someone mistakenly changed the picture i the TV from HDMI to regular reception. If the HDMI ports are changed to regular TV reception they don't see the HDMI ports only the regular video ports!

My sceptre tv just started randomly changing through input modes, sometimes once or twice before stopping and sometimes it continues

hello..try to change the sound settings to HDMI..you say when you use other cables everything is fine so the TV reconizes the HDMi as a video only so your sound settings should be changed to HDMI

it sounds like there is a problem with either the output on the PS3 or the input on the circuit board of the TV. I would try a reset on the PS3 first. Also make sure that there are no other video or audio cords plugged into the PS3 because this will cause the PS3 not to send the signal via the HDMI.
