Write protected pendrive

It’s difficult to give you an exact fix without having your pen drive in hand and at a computer, but I will give you some things to check for:

1) Does the pen drive have a read – write protection enabled? If so turn it off.

2) Make sure your windows explore has the folder view options set so that you cans see file extensions. This will definitely come in to play if the files on your pen drive are not common files. e.g. (ms word)

3) No the bad news!!! There are many reports of the 32GB Kingstone pen drive being FAKE. If you do a google search you will see many consumer complaints.

I have had the same prob and able to remove the write protected message by just unlocking the hold button. If this doesn't work there is formating software for each USB on the web. One can google and download it for free inorder to formate the USB

When i copy any data to my 32 Gb Kingston pen drive whether any audio or video file or any software, the data get corrupted or may be deleted. some trimes it happen that some of the AV files are working. Why this happened that the data are deleted. I have lost many of my files due to this.It cannot be fomatted also. Please sort my this problem. Thanx

2. Format pen drive

Your pendrive is infected with Autorun.inf virus
to remove this virus install malwarebytes (It is antimalware software)and scan your whole computer as well as your pendrive when you scaning finish remove all threats

IF the above method is not work

Try to format in other operating system like windows vista or in windows 7 because in vista and 7 you can force format your pendrive

if u format ur pen drive. then use this step

Check out the registry under:

1)click on start button
2)clik on run dialog box
3)type regedit
4) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.
The value 'WriteProtect' should be absent or set to '0' and when you try to format it you have to format it as FAT16

Hey, the transcend pen drives usually have a small switch on the side of it, ie to turn the write protect on and off, usually a small lock symbol on it, the problem with unreadable files names etc, could be a corrupt partition, i would suggest formatting the drive as long as you aint got any important information on it,
