When plugged into vehicle Mitsubishi 4x4, charges,but no sound, does not recognise usb cable, veh info book mentions only ipod equip, what can i do?

Make sure your volume is turned up on your ipod and in the car make sure nothing else is playing. Also check your instruction book and if all fails take your car back to where you bought it from and explain what has happened also make sure it's properly pluged in!

It may be that the battery has drained to such a low level that it is only barely charged. What I would do is leave it for a couple of hours charging using the apple usb cable supplied (if you have still got it) and also if you are using a usb hub plug it directly in the computer usb port. Problem solved, I purchased a new USB cable and wahla it worked

To charge the ipod you can plug it into the computer using the usb cable it should have came with or you can plug it up to a power adapter such as an ihome stereo system

USB device not recognised" - means windows needs driver to function. As soon as you connect USB device it check driver in cache it is available it detect smoothly you can perform else it generate errors.

first to instal driver from CD

1. ipod default setting is not set as a mass storage device.

2. you might have to restore ipod to manufactor default setting (from itunes). WARNING: all music will be erase.
Try to plug it in another computer/laptop

What OS do you have?

Try a different USB port if you have one.

Update the firmware using iTunes to replace the information you have removed from your iPod when you have formatted it.
