My laptop uses all RAM

After turning on, my laptop uses all RMA and is almost frozen. Restoring to factory condition, does not help. Replaceing main board, does not help. Is there anything else to do with it?

I think I caused big problems. I can not logon. I receive an invalid config information, runset up program message. Now what?

It seems that the OS on your system is corrupted, You might need to re-install the OS or Restore the computer to original factory condition.

Please let me know if you have a OS (Operating System) CD, so that I can help you repair the Operating System using that Operating system Disc.

If you do not have an OS disc you can restore the computer to factory condition by doing this:

Turn off the system
let the Device be connected to the power
Turn on the power button
Hold the Ctrl (Control Key) and Start Tapping the F11
You will get a Restore / Recovery Screen
Follow the instructions on the screen
Your computer will be restored back to factory condition.

Awaiting your reply.

Thank you for choosing Fixya.

Note: Restoring the computer to Factory condition will erase all your data.

The keyboard is frozen on the dell inspiron

Try removing any external devices first (Ex. USB devices) then run some diagnostic test:

1. Turn on computer
2. Tap F12 continuously on the Dell logo screen
3. Select Diagnostics
4. Wait for the test results (approximately 10-15min.)

If all test passed no problems have been found, it means there is no problem with hardware/computer. The problem is now pointing out to be software problem. Solution will be restoring it back to factory settings.

1. Turn on computer
2. Tap F8 continuously on the Dell logo screen
3. Select Repair computer
4. Follow instructions... then select "Dell Factory Image Restore " on the recovery options
5. Follow instructions
6. Wait for 20-25min. and computer now is back to factory settings

Hope this helps

How much more memory can I install

This laptop can support up to a max of 1 GB of RAM , so if you buy 1 stick of 1 GB of RAM you need to take out the 768 MB and just put the 1 stick of 1 GB RAM, or your other option is to buy a 256 MB of RMA so your computer will still have a max of 1 GB of RAM and that would be cheaper and you can still use your old RMA on your laptop , this is the lin for the complete specs of your laptop http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Compaq-Refurbished-COMPAQ-P4-M-1-8GHZ-256MB-30GB-14-1-TFT-CDRW-W-XP

Hope that helps...........
