Please tell me where I can find a correct service manual for Compaq Presario 1200? I wasn'r able to find a correct service manual for my Compaq Presario 1200. I try to replace a new HDD. Thanks,

    Lee, the document is a big help.
    I do not understand why Compaq Presario 1200 has two kind cases. The front/top part (keyboard) is the same. but the layout of the back panel (AC jack, usb jacks ect) and the bottom are totally different. The bottom of Mine is the same ashttp://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/show... Hope the inside of the two kinds are the same.

this pdf should help you. Though I would recommend not putting money into this laptop. Also make sure you get the right hard drive for your laptop they are not all the same. You can get new laptops now for as little as $349 from websites like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com

The Compaq website has the user manuals available for their products. Upgrading a hdd should be included in this manual. Hope this helps.

HP and Compaq Presario laptop computers are made by the same company, so the hardware on certain models of each brand might be nearly identical. Many newer laptops, for example, use identical technology to control the touchpad, which in turn controls your mouse cursor. If you want to disable this touchpad use the software already installed on your PC.

Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Click the "Device Settings" tab. Click on the listing for the HP touchpad to highlight it. Click the "Disable" button to disable the HP touchpad on your Compaq Presario laptop computer.

Compaq presario 1200 its a laptop and modem is inbuilt. If your laptop is in warranty then get in touch with Compaq. Do not try to change modem as warranty will get void. So donot try this at home.

This means that the data inside the D drive is gone. If you had deleted the D drive data or had gotten rid of this partition then your outta luck in trying to restore your system back to factory settings (getting windows reloaded).

All is not lost if you are willing to pay HP/Compaq for their restore CD's this will get your laptop and running again. I paid a copy of these CD's 3yrs ago and cost me $45CDN to get them.

The Compaq Site now has a huge range of all drivers for all there made laptops.
