Ensure your router is located in an area which has good line of sight to the devices likely to use it. Steel, concrete and other electronic devices affect signal strength.

Can you give more information about where the device is located and the typical range you are experiencing. You may also wish to look at your routers radio settings mode (5 GHz / 2.4 GHz) and verify compatibility with WiFi devices on your network - match channel modes with radio settings.

Failing all of this you may wish to consider expanding your WiFi coverage with a WAP (wireless access point)

Place it in the middle of the room. All walls, special concrete, will degrade the signal. But what also makes WiFi degrade is other modems close by. Even if they use another "channel" The best results can be achieved with 2 band modems. 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz. The 5 GZH is not yet used that much and although the reach is less, the chance other users will degrade your signal is smaller.

Inconsistant wireless signal in house

Have you checked that the signal on your new cable modem/router is strong enough to reach your wireless devices? You may need to re-site the cable modem to get better coverage in your home. Your old one probably worked fine in the same position but that doesn't mean a new one will. There are a few things you can try to get the best of the range it has. Internal walls and furnishings all play a part in reducing the effective range of the router. Most routers will give you at least 50 metres indoors. Keep the router as high and as far away from walls as you can, this will greatly improve the range. Try to ensure the router is not screened by large near by metal objects such as steel PC cases, these will absorb wireless signals and reduce the range.

Which router modem is best ?

Hello,

If you get a wireless-N router, and you have a wireless-N adapter on your computer, then it should work...depending on the physical environment and building type. If the building has steel-beam construction, or log walls for example, then this will inhibit the wireless signal drastically. Also, having a clear line of sight between the router and intended coverage area will help. Trees and tall brush can also kill the signal. Try to place the router closest to the area you want to cover, so the signal doesn't have to pass through several walls. Try placing it on a window ledge facing the area to be covered. If all else fails, there are high-powered N routers available, signal amplifiers and larger antennas for the router, and also consider mounting an antenna outside. Start with an N router and an N adapter for the computer first though as this is the least expensive solution, and may do the trick.

Hope this helps!

I HAVE A BELKIN N 300 CONNECTED TO MY COMCAST MODEM EVERY 20 MINUTES I LOSE MY SIGNAL, I HAVE TO REFRESH

There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

I have a USB broadband for my internet. I got it from my service provider, certainly for a fixed pay per month. However the signal is so slow in spite of the internet speed of 2 mbps because of poor signal...

You can't connect the any antenna you bought to your PC. Normally, any Wireless Boardband router/modem whether it is cable or USB connection, the antenna is usually built-in or with an external appendage sticking out from the Router/modem. You have to check with your ISP whether they have any alternative to boost the signal to your wireless modem.

If they coverage to your area is no good, look for another ISP which have much excellent band coverage.

Hope it herlps.

The ploblem is In need the solution of wire less network to build in the big house.

I presume you need Internet access in this house using a wireless network.
The best place to locate the wireless router is in a spot centrally located where the radio signals can reach the rooms where the computers are located. The DSL or cable modem/connection would also need to be in this area so it can connect to the wireless router.
If the wireless router is in a multi-storey house and the floor slab and walls are concrete and/or brick, then the radio signals will be impeded and the signal strength to some rooms will be weak.
In such circumstances, it maybe better to install network cables from these rooms to the wireless router, or install wireless access point repeaters to increase wireless coverage.
If you are not sure how to setup and install this network, then I suggest you get help from a computer savy friend or from your computer friendly shop.

Router randomly stops sending out wireless signal

You may be getting interference from other routers in your area.
Check to see what channels the other routers are broadcasting in your area, change it to a channel that is not being used.
The location of the router could affect the signal strength, move the router away from concrete reinforced walls etc, and or move the router to a higher position in a clear space.
