When I'm sewing fleece material the material wants to bunch up, how do I stop this?

I have my tension set at 0. If I go higher it is worse.

Does this machine have adjustable pressure settings for the presser foot ? If it does, reduce the pressure. The softness and bulk of fleece makes it tend to bunch, so less pressure is very helpful. A wide presser foot with a very flat bottom may also help.

Reduced presser foot pressure is helpful for most knits, very much so for stretchy fabrics. Fleeces are usually knits.

Using a stretch stitch also helps. If you don't have a stretch stitch, a very small zig zag is helpful to provide some give to the seam.

Set the stitches for longer length, normal stitch length is too tight for the fabric to move easily. This is also something to do with Jean material.

How to sew on fleece

Be sure to put in a brand new needle (Ballpoint or Microtex) and use a good quality polyester thread.

Lighten the presser foot pressure (if your machine has that capability). If that is not possible, you might find using a walking foot will keep the top fabric from "pushing" in front of the foot.

What number do I set the Tension for sewing fleece fabric on a singer classic

No pre-set "setting" value for fleece, try a test sew to see how machine corrects for thicknesses. If sewing a lot of fleece remember to change needle when you go back to standard fabrics. The fiber dulls rotary cutter blade and dulls needles quickly.

Bobbin bunching in reverse, I have adjusted all tensions and ONLY in the reverse I get a "rats nest" under my fleece fabric. Stitches beautifully but once you ask for a reverse, it is a mess

For all machines that I have experience the reverse button or control is only use to lock the finishing end of your sewing & if reverse all the way would not work right.

I am trying the tention,, and topt is fine,,under neat is loose

try adjusting the top tension

make sure the needle can be used for sewing fleece

try rethreading the machine ,make sure each thread guide is used

if you try changing the top tension & the machine doesn't respond to any tension setting then maybe the tension dial needs to be replaced

make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly in the bobbin case

make sure the bobbin is wound correctly

clean under the needle plate & in bobbin area for lint or loose threads

I have Kenmore model 38512102990. I'm having trouble with the thread bunching up when I changed the bobbin, and then the thread gets all twisted up around the bobbin and I can't sew.

Hello

You are probably threading the machine incorrectly. Re-thread the machine very carefully as per your instruction manual.

If the problrm persists then You have a thread tension adjustment problem here

There is a tension adjustment knob this is usually located at a point in the thread's travel approximately half way down the sewing machine's head and the point where the thread is looped into a "tension spring"

It is at that point that you need to do your adjustment, tighten it slightly and make a pass of some trash cloth through the machine,if the thread's knotting up has improved adjust a little more test again until the proper tension is set

It should be fairly evident once you start this process if the tension needs to be slightly tighter or slightly looser you may even have to "tweak" this setting slightly once you have the actual project material into it's run because the type of material and the thickness of the needle's pass will have a lot to do with the necessary tension setting. The thread should "lock" at the back side of the material passing thru the machine to have the proper tension setting

Thread is bunching up unside of the material does not catch bobbin thread

This sounds like the tension is not set properly for what you are sewing.

Bicor vx1005 ...thread keeps bunching

Try a different bobbin. Look for one that is a little narrower. I had the same problem and changing to a narrower bobbin fixed it.

Thread bunching underneath fabric as I sew.

You may need to take off the housing that covers the whole dog mechanism. You will need a screwdriver to do this. Blow out the area around the tension gears and dogs, check for loose or disconnedted parts, and re-oil the gears. Fleece fuzz usually collects where you can't see it. This was the problem with my machine that had the same symptom.
