Is it frost on the freezer inside back wall or inside freezer towards the freezer door on the top of inside freezer box. If back wall then you have a defrosting problem. If it is towards freezer door then you have door seal problem and moist room air is getting inside your freezer.

SOURCE: it is a french door,

The factory presets your temperatures to the MID / MID setting of 0? for the freezer and 37? for the refrigerator. Refrigerator adjustment range is -15? to +15? in the freezer and 33? to 47? in the refrigerator. Depending on ambient temperatures the temperatures will be + or - 6? the set point. Whenever you make a temperature adjustment, you need to wait 24 hours to notice any temperature difference.

To adjust your temperatures: Adjust controls according to your Use and Care guide. Start out by making sure your settings are at the factory setting of MID / MID. Make only one adjustment: Adjust one control and wait 24 hours before making another adjustment.

To measure temperatures: If you try to measure temperatures, it is important to follow these directions: Fresh Food Section: Put thermometer in a glass of water. Check the temperature during the first door opening after a long (8+hours) non-usage period (such as overnight or when you arrive home from work). Frozen Food Section: Put thermometer between two bags of vegetables. Check the temperature during the first door opening after a long (8+hours) non-usage period (such as overnight or when you arrive home from work).

Freezer works, but has some ice forming and refrigerator not cooling.

The refrigerator half of a refrigerator/freezer does not produce any cold! The refrigerator is cooled by transferring air from the freezer to the fridge. The fridge temperature setting controls a flapper between the freezer and the fridge. There should be a fan which blows air from the freezer into the fridge (through the damper).
If the ice forming in the freezer is concealing the cooling coil and air can not move through the coils, then the overall result will be a warm freezer (even though there may be ice in one location) and a warmer yet fridge. This can be tested by unplugging the fridge and allowing a complete thaw. If the ice is the cause of the problem, then it should work for a short while until it freezes up improperly again
:o).

My refrigerator is warm, but the freezer seems to be fine.

Top of Form

Since frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.Since Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

Ice forms around fan and makes a loud humming noise

It's probablly caused by air leakage through the ice room fan electrical connection inside the freezer. Behind the back wall inside the freezer, the icd fan is the fan that blows air up to the in-door icemaker. The plug on that, into a molded plug on the back of the feezer compartment, is a red plastic part with three wires in it. Try filling in around the wires and the red plastic with a bit of silicone. (if you replace the ice room fan, the new plug comes with a rubber filler which seals this spot). (PS. Next time, avoid Sears)
