Normally this is either because the signal strength from the router is weak, and also if the signal strength is not at its highest then the data can be interrupted by other incidental high power equipment being used nearby. This can be a vacuum cleaner, washing machine etc.

Computer don't start,

If it doesn't start at all, check motherboard for a short by unplugging the processor power cable (4 pin normally), and turn the computer on. If the fans start rotating, it is probably a short. If that isn't the problem, check for cables that should be connected, and test the processor in another computer. Hope it works (it did for me)

Powerspec 8650. what type graphics card fits it? computer keeps shutting down while playing certain games on facebook. extra memory hasn't helped, so i think i need to upgrade my graphics card, just am not...

This card is listed for the model below yours.

Graphics Controller
  • Type AGP 4x - Plug-in card
  • Graphics Processor / Vendor NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 200

  • I would be looking for other causes of shut down such as overheating.
Check that all fans are working and clean. Ensure all case openings / grilles are also clear.

If you want to upgrade the vid card you can only get one with AGP 4X
NOT 8X which most are now.

My labtop keeps on disconnecting from the internet it says something like unable to connect the preffered wireless network and I dont have any idea why.

    Open "Networks".
    Click "View Available Networks".
    Click your preferred wireless network.
Click "Disconnect", to prevent your computer, in the future, from connecting to that non-functional network.
    Choose a different network.
    Click "Connect".

My wireless net work keeps breaking down, I have to restart...

If you don't have a contract with ATT, you may want to change. THey have what's called a "sticky static IP" which essentially flickers the connection. This wouldn't typically have any problem with the connection between devices, but some lower end routers and networks have this problem.
If you don't want to change carriers, try upgrading to another modem. You don't have to have the one they give you. In fact, the netgear and similar ones work well...much better than the 2wires.
Let me know if this helps.

My wired pc keeps discconecting from internet

Check for wire loose connection and then any time setting for your dhcp connection. If they are ok check your network connectivity do as follows.

    Startup
    run
    type cmd
at the prompt type ping <your router ip address> -t
    kepp watching the reply

use your computer as normally and check when it gets disconnect by watching above

may be some corrupted program send packets in an un usual rate (it can be virus/trojan) so the router blocks those port and your computer disconnect from the network.

Rather from all the above change the PCI Network adapter replace with a new network card.

    Internet connection

    Here's How:
    1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.

    2. Click Run... on this menu.

    3. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen.

    4. Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es).

    5. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.

    6. Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the computer is holding a current address).
    Tips:
    1. If it is not necessary to view the current IP addresses on a computer, simply type 'ipconfig /release' or 'ipconfig /renew' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears in Step 3.

    2. To bring a computer back onto the network after moving it to a different location, or experiencing an unexpected outage, first release, then renew the IP address. Computers on DHCP networks often (but not always) re-establish network connectivity automatically.
