I have black stuff laying in the bottom of my machine

Sometimes the hoses break down and the material will follow with the water into the machine. Try replacing hot & cold water hoses.

This is done with a sink basket wrench from hardware store.

While at hardware store, go look at new sink basket and see how wrench attaches to nut on bottom of sink basket. A hammer and screwdriver are usually not enough, but might loosen the large nut if lucky, but not best plan.
How to: Lay on back under sink, and position mouth and eyes directly beneath sink basket so stuff can fall on face. Then crawl out from under sink and get glasses and flashlight to help see stuff falling in face. Then crawl out from under sink and call neighbor to come over and hold sink basket from top using two screwdrivers down the hole while you twist wrench only to discover you are twisting wrong direction. Have neighbor install 2 new batteries in flashlight while you lay under sink thinking about chiropractor bill. Then while laying on back and facing nut from below, turn sink basket nut counterclockwise and it will come off quickly.

You do not say what machine you have but in general look as the glass plate where you lay your document. If your machine has only and adf (automatic document feeder) then lift this up and you will see a glass plate under it. there will be something mucky on it or tippex. Clean these glasses and now your copies will be ok again.

Hi all of them does it that is the staysoft having a reaction.only thing to do is to full it with water and remove the drian plug at bottom of machine to remove it.hope this helps

The spring washer that holds the spindle in place has probably come off. If you or your husband take off the bottom panel you might find it laying in there. Unplug your machine first of course before attempting any work. If you machine is like most it is a little spring clip that looks like a little horsehoe. Try to get it back on. It fits in a little groove on the very bottom of the spindle.

Your pan and seal are starting to disintegrate. I have a older model toastmaster in almost new condition. If interested I can sell to you via paypal. You can try it for 7 days and if you don't like it you can return it. Let me know if you are interested. It's not a 1142, it is a toastmaster 1170S, "corner bakery" model,,,,supposed to make butter too but I don't have the little butter lid, but you could still make butter with it. Toastmasters are my favorite too. They are quiet and have heavy duty pans.

I'll bet it's the fuse. I had the same problem about a year ago.

take drain hose and lay it in a bucket to drain water or a wet vac works better. remove 2 scews from lower pannel it will drop down and come off. look for a accordian shaped black hose. disconnect it and remove junk in it. check inside the pump inlet for stuff it's the thing one end of the funny hose is hooked to. put back together and don't over tighten clamps nut driver tight is fine.

Ours does the same thing. I have been suspicious that it is the melting plastic stuff used in the dishwasher tabs that the wife uses.

Let me know if you use that same tab to wash you dishes.

We dont have any problem with the stuff getting on dishes (and we use all white diner type dishes.).
