The button will not push in unless it has been tripped. Your model is well over 10 years old, it could be the power cord, the switch or a loose wire somewhere.

My machine is only 3 months old and when i push the buttons to run it runs but the brushes do not move.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. You should be able to reset your machine following the steps shown in our video guide:

You may find something like the eraser-end of a pencil works well to push the red reset button - you should feel a click when it engages.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright. Make sure you recline your DC24 into the normal vacuuming position before you test it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you'd like further advice from our experts after giving this a try, please call us directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My dyson dc24

Hi there Shane, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar will shut off if something jams it - for example, a rug fringe or a shoelace. Once you've checked the cleaner head for any obstructions, you should be able to reset it. To do this, please follow the steps shown in the video.

It may help to push the red reset button with the eraser end of a pencil or something similar. You should feel a click as you push it in.

The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please make sure you recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.

If you do need further help after trying this, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Brush not spinning even after you press the little button on the side of the brush

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty resetting your DC24. You might want to take a look at the video below, to make sure you've followed all the steps as we recommend. You may also want to use something like the eraser end of a pencil to push the reset button - you should be able to hear an audible 'click'.

Please also make sure you recline the machine into the vacuuming position before testing it, as the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright.

This should resolve the issue, but if the brush bar won't rotate after you've followed these steps, I'd encourage you to get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Does the dc24 all floors have a belt?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. This machine does not use a replaceable belt - a sensor is designed to shut off the brushbar if something jams it.

Although I note you've already tried resetting the machine, you may find it helps to take a look at the video below to make sure you've followed the procedure correctly. When pushing the red reset button on the side of the cleaner head, try using something like the eraser-end of a pencil, and push it in until you hear an audible 'click'.

If you're still concerned about the machine after you've tried this, we'll be happy to provide further assistance. Please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Dyson DC24 roller bar doesn't work from first try - and this is my second one

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24.

Your machine has two switches on it's upper body - a red on/off switch, and a silver brush control switch. When you press the red on/off switch and recline the machine into the vacuuming position, the brushbar should rotate automatically - you do not need to turn the brushbar on manually every time you use the cleaner. If you want to vacuum a hard floor or a delicate rug, you can turn the brushbar off using the silver brush control switch.

It's important to note that the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position.

If you find that the brushbar will not rotate when you turn the machine on and recline it into the vacuuming position, the brushbar may need resetting. For directions on doing this, please follow the steps shown in the video below. When pressing the reset button in the red recess on the side of the cleaner head, it may help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil, and to push it in until you hear and feel an audible 'click'.

This should resolve the issue, but if you need any further assistance, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MDYSON (US), so we can help you.

Kind regards,

Jack

I have the Hoover, self propelled vacuum. I have only used the self propel function a few times, but our babysitter used the feature and now the vacuum only works on the highest carpet setting. The middle...

Move the carpet height control switch to a higher position if the vacuum is difficult to push. If the setting is too low for the carpet being cleaned, the brushes press against the floor preventing the vacuum from moving easily.Set to a medium-high height setting then check.Slide the "Self-Propel" button to the "ON" position if the cleaner does not self-propel. -----------
The self-propel feature operates only when the cleaner switch and the self propel button are both ON. ---------- Try this settings and check. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Brush bar is not turning when I turn on my dison vacum

Hi There,

The Dyson DC15 All floors is actually a 2 motor upright, meaning the suction motor is separate from the motor that rotates the brushes. The first thing you should check is the reset switch on the brushes. Behind the brushes there is a little red pole, push this down to reset the brushes, and see if this fixes the problem.

If not, then you may have a bad on/off switch for the roller brushes. Try pushing the switch next to the main on/off switch that controls the brushes up and down, up and down, can you hear the brushes attempt to come on at all? If you could hear them come on even somewhat, this means that your brush on/off switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

If nothing happens when you push this switch, it still may be bad and not getting any power at all to it.

Does the machine make any sound at all when you try to turn the brush switch on and off?

Please try pushing the reset switch, then testing the on/off switch first. If neither one of these solutions works, please just use the comment field on the repair and let me know, and I can then walk you through some more advanced diagnosing of your machine.

Thanks,

Chris Jones

The rotator brush stopped turning. it turns fine

The brush roll will only spin when your handle is not in the locked upright position, once the handle goes upright - the brushroll de-activates

Eureka Boss - Belt is not broke but brush will not turn. I have already turned it over - checked belt - and pushed the reset button.

The belt may look fine but they can still be stretched or worn and it won' turn the brush. Try changing the belt and see what it does. You can get Eureka belts here:
