Nothing on screen

After short periods, sometimes as little as 2 minutes, it comes up with a message that windows has to shut down. It seams to be getting hotter than usual underneath as well. Now it will not start up at all. The power light comes on and the fan seems to be running very slow but there is nothing on the screen.

Tablet goes to sleep within just a 'few' minutes of nonuse i would like to know how to change this to make it just go to screensaver and not to go to sleep or hybernate so soon after i walk away...

Hi

Yes the Forced Shut Downs are very harmful to the Power Management System of the laptop, its Batteries, the Hard Drive and the integrity of the Operating System. I strongly advise you to desist from doing this.

If your Laptop goes into Power Save Screen Shut Down, the Hard Drive is unaffected and remains active typically after a short period of User inactivity), A sweep of the Touch Pad or touch of the Space Bar should instantly re-illuminate the Screen. Longer periods of User inactivity, however, can cause Hibernation Mode to set in, during which both Screen and Hard Drive go into Power Save Shut Down.

To Resume Operation from Hibernation Mode press and hold the Power Button for just 1 second, then release it. The Laptop's Login Page or Screen Saver should then appear on the screen after a moment or two, This is the correct procedure. Pressing and holding down the Power Button until the computer shuts down is called a Forced Shut Down and is reserved for emergencies such Screen Freezes, Serious Crashes, Rapid Termination of an Uninterruptible Virus Download, System Failure and other similarly urgent scenarios and only.

You do not say which Operating System you're using or mention the make or model number of your laptop, to enable me to make an informed guess, so I offer you a generalised Windows Solution, which can be extrapolated to other Operating Systems or refined by further clarification, if required.

Right Click on an empty space on the Taskbar > Properties > Notification Area > tick Power if it is not already ticked > Apply > OK > right click on the Battery Icon, bottom right of screen, near the clock > Power Options > Select a Power Plan > tick High Performance > Change Plan Settings > use 4 Drop Menus to select your preferred option in time ranges from as short as 1 minute up to as londg as Never for each of the 4 functions (2 for use under battery power and 2 for battery-less, direct mains powered use) > Save Settings > Restart computer > Test your satisfaction level and Reset again if necessary.

If the above Step-By-Step Guide does not tally with your Operating System, please feel free to Add a Comment/Clarification Request to this Question, identifying your Laptop's Brand Name and Model Number and your Operating System and I will happily do my best to offer you further guidance.

I hope this helps.

Hi
At some point if you can get the computer to stay up for a while, you should go into control panel and check your
POWER settings. The other thing you should try if you haven't already is to shut the computer off and pull out the battery. Then after a minute re-install the battery and see
if that helps.

Good Luck
Joe

Possible overheating

The PS3 has an automatic feature to shut down the system once it acquires overheating. The fans installed vary on how much heat is being generated by the system to cool it down. If the screen freezes occassionally try to set the resolution to a lower setting, say downscale from 1080p to 720p as it will make the system's work a little bit lighter and generate lesser heat. Hope it works.

Microwave keeps shutting off

The magnetron is overheating, tripping the thermostat, which shuts off all power until it cools down.

This is usually caused by a blocked air vent, failed internal cooling fan, or failing magnetron.

If it's out of warranty, I'm sure you'll find it's uneconomical to repair, even if you could get parts for this brand.

Good luck.
