I'm hoping you are online now, but more than likely you are not. I can not figure out how to attach the hose to my kirby shampooer. everything is attached with the exception of the hose. If I attach the hose to the tray, it will just shoot the shampoo contents into a small (size of the circular tube) line. Is that how it should work? I wish there was a visual diagram. I work much better seeing than reading.

Thanks for your help.

In regards to "Solution #3" which was more of a question.

The hose will just "squeeze in" to the shampoo tray and the shampoo mixer. Make sure the sponge is properly seated in the mixing bin.

Set your vacuum height to the very bottom, or one click up and instead of a small line, the solution will be dispersed the width of the shampoo brush roller

For visual people this is a good site for how to use the Kirby Shampooer. Make sure that you do not loose the "Sud screen" in step 8, without this you will not have foam. Turn on to put foam on floor, turn off to scrub and return foam to catching tray. If you place in between On and Off you can stretch out the amount of suds.

My Kirby disperses more suds when pulled back. Let dry, and vacume. If you do not vacuum completely, the residue of foam will attract dirt, and you will have a sticky feeling to your carpet.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Here's a link to a video instruction manual that shows how to but on the Kirby Shampoo attachment on the newer Kirby Sentria model, however the instructions are exactly the same for attaching the shampooer attachment to your model.

How To Attach Carpet Shampooer To Your Kirby Generation 4 (G4) Upright.

Hello,

This is an excellent, easy to follow video presentation of attaching the carpet cleaner to your Kirby Generation 3 Upright Vacuum Cleaner. Please note that the model being used in the video is a newer model named the Sentria, but the process of attaching the carpet extractor attachment is identical on the Kirby Sentria and the Kirby Generation 4. The only major difference is that the Generation 4 does not have the lever that extends out to turn the belt to off. On the Generation 4 this is dont by turning the entire white square with the Kirby logo on it in the front of the vacuum cleaner.

Please feel free to ask for a repair clarification if you have a question on how to attach the carpet shampooer. I'm always, more then happy to answer any follow up questions there may be.

How do I use shampooer?

Greetings,

If you click the link below it will take you to a video demonstration that explains step by step what you need to do to convert your Kirby into a carpet shampooer. The Vacuum in the video is the Kirby Sentria, but the procedure is the EXACT same as it is on your Kirby G3, as well as Kirby Diamond Edition, G4, G5, G6, etc. All Generation models have the same process of converting the vacuum into a carpet shampooer.

What parts go to a Kirby Shampooer?

There is a shampooer head with shampooer brushroll, water tank, small hose that hooks to the tank, collection tray

Need to use the Kirby shampoo. It goes down as wet suds but you pick up the suds with the vacuum when it drys. Fill tank adding 1 cap full of soap (kirby soap only) per level on the side, this attaches on the side where the bag is attached

After using the shampooer you need to reattach the vacuum bag and main brushroll nozzle as though you were just vacuuming up dirt.

Instructions:

Lift the front of your kirby up (front part with light) open the handle on the dail in the front (if epquipt), remove the power head, put on height adjustment on highest level, turn dial on front of power head until you see 2 red arrows facing each other, unlock by turning knob, power head should come right off, get shampooer out the power head for shampooer with collection tray, make sure dial is set red on red, put on front of Kirby and lock in, turn dial to green on green arrows, fill tank adding 1 cap full of soap (Kirby soap only) per level on the side, this attaches on the side where the bag is attached, line up arrow and notch and turn, to hook up hose put Kirby down to lowest level, notched end of hose hooks in on tray other end on the tank,on/off switch refers to the foam, Turn machine on to lay the foam & scrub carpet, take shampooer back off to extract the foam once it's dry.

Good luck.

I have a Kirby vacuum with the shampooing attachment. The shampoo/liquid comes out of the shampooer in a drizzle of liquid. There is no foam.

You need to check that the little round screen is in the hole where the hose attaches to the shampoo tank. My guess is that the little round screen is wedged sideways in the end of the hose. Here is a guide to help you further... http://reviews.ebay.com/KIRBY-CARPET-SHAMPOOER-INSTRUCTIONS-MANUAL-DIRECTIONS_W0QQugidZ10000000004594992
