Blue screen when playing tape

Tv Video combo, when i put in a tape all i get is blue screen, when i fas forward or rewind i can see the video but it goes to blue screen when i hit play?

The tape head needs cleaning. Best to use the type that you put a drop or two of alcohol on. Find a cleaning tape that works best for you, or have a TV shop do it for you. The "Blue Screen" is what the TV defaults to when the signal is not strong enough, either through the tv tuner, or the tape head signal.

when I plug in the RPU DC cord from my camera to the input on my tv I get nothing. Is my input jack bad or what. Also, if I tried the s video jack from the camera to the tv, would that work??? I don't know what the AV out jack is for I don't have a cord for that

Video head is dirty / clogged. Use good quality Mini DV Head Cleaning cassette.

a 1394 cable is specified for the GR - D - 270 but the GR - 270 U , not listed ( does your camera use VHS/c , or mini DV tape ? )

a sony cleaning cassette may clear the gunk from your friend ' s possibly ? bad tapes ( do not rewind it - or the gunk will be redeposited ) ; if still no video , get an estimate to have your heads and guides cleaned . . . professionally ;
