Want to connect to my Vista PC but...

I have a Casio WK 3800 and want to connect it to my PC with Vista operating system, but when I plug in the USB cable my pc can't find a driver for the keyboard. I have gone to the Casio site and it so confusing I leave more frustrated than before. I bought this keyboard cause it said you could connect to casio music site and add things to the keyboard and do all this other stuff but I can't figure out how to do any of it. The Casio site is not user friendly at all I can't even find anything in there support section for a wk 3800. The manual says the only way to reset this keyboard to factory settings is to connect it to the computer and initalize settings through the computer, but if you can't connect to your computer what are you supposed to do? I feel so ripped off by Casio and am very tempted to sell this keyboard just because I can't connect to my PC. Is there another software I can buy to connect my keyboard to my pc or what? Please help, before I sell.

Have you tried signing on to your computer as the administrator? I looked at the support pages at Casio and saw how confusing they are. Look at page: http://support.casio.com/information.php?rgn=5&cid=008&pid=114 and page: http://support.casio.com/information.php?rgn=5&cid=009&pid=115. Pay attention to the red lettering. The computer might be considered as the midi out device and the keyboard as the midi in device or the other way around, I'm not sure. Pretend its a telephone conversation with one person talking and the other person replying. I don't know if this helps but you can also try tech support at Sweetwater Sound (800)222-4700.

Have you tried signing on to your computer as the administrator? I was on the Casio website and I can see how confusing it is. There are two pages that started to make sense. Look at the messages in red and see if that helps. The first page ishttp://support.casio.com/information.php... and the second page ishttp://support.casio.com/information.php... Pay attention to the part about selecting appropriate midi In/Out device names. I'm not sure but the computer might be considered as the input device and the WK3800 as the output device. I hope some of this helps. You can also try contacting a tech at Sweetwater Sound at (800)222-4700.

SOURCE: Casio wk-3800 keys are malfunctioning, also the

This is likely a problem in the scanning matrix of the keys and switches. Other than opening the unit and looking for contamination like a metal shard or a loose cable, it is unlikley you will be ablle to repair the unit yourself. There could easily be a metal part shorting something that is causing the problem, but it could also be a bad IC someplace in the circuitry or even a cracked circuit board.

When I plug in stereo headphones in the casio wk 210, the sound only comes out of one ear. I didn't really care about that before, but now when I connect a line out from the piano to my computer to...

The output of the casio may only be mono, you can buy splitters to create a 2x channel output. Is there any other outputs from the casio other than headphones, usually there are red/white RCA outputs (Phono's) which would be better for connecting to your soundcard.

Hope I was of use to you, good luck.

Re: Casio WK-210. Audacity, Jet Audio and Ctrl Pnl allow me to choose a USB PnP "record from" option, however, no sound is being recorded from the Casio to the PC. What am I doing wrong. Many...

Pat, the USB output on the Casio WK-210 is only capable of sending and receiving MIDI information. It's not sending any digital or analog audio. Audacity is primarily for sound file editing.

In order to use the keyboard to record onto your computer you can connect an audio cable from the 1/8" stereo mini-jack to an input on your computer. Then you can record into Audacity.

Or you can acquire MIDI recording software (ie. Logic, Cubase) and then using the USB output on the keyboard, you can control and record multiple MIDI instruments in those programs.

I can't get d usb connection and i think the driver is corrupted

Make sure the driver is compatible with your operating system... often stuff will not work with Vista for example. Often SOME software REQUIRES it to be installed before USB cable is connected, and yet other requires it not be connected till software is installed... read the manual...

My Casio WK-3800 will ONLY work on batteries not the ac/dc adapter (which is putting out the proper voltage and polarity) What do you think

Your adapter should be an AD12M. Some have tried a switching version of this and it has not worked. Make sure yours is the AD12M and not the "ML" suffix one.
The reason is that some of these have filtering built into the adapter, and others do not. The filtering is often required.

I have a casio wk-200 piano. I bought headphones

The keyboard has a mic jack that is the same size as the headphones. You probably put the headphone plug into the wrong jack is all.

SMF converter for wk-500, Does it exist?

No.

I have a Wk-8000 & a CDP-200R, the later is the same as wk-500 but with 88 weighted hammer keys.

Since wk-500 can play SMF (Midi 0 & 1) format directly from a SD card and there is enough polyphony to play anything, I don't find any real reason to convert SMF to any "Casio Format". Just get a 2GB SD card and put your SMF files in the MUSDAT folder for the SD CARD using your PC/MAC.
