Dim display light - LG LMV1813ST Microwave Oven

Behind the display module there is a capacitor. It needs replacing. They bulge, split and fail.

If you can get behind the display, on the back of the circuit board, you will find a capacitor. It needs replacing, or you just buy a new display.

Depends if it was dim when new then not a lot you can do
if it has gone dim , you have 2 options
1 unplug it and put plug in front of oven door,then remove all cabinet screws.locate the display control printed circuit (under display)take photo of wiring with phone to aid reassembly ,unplug and remove printed circuit board screws and board,clean display screen and window ,if was clear then either obtain replacement panel or take panel into radio or electronic repair shop and have them check and replace any poor electrolytic capacitors, this usually cures older ovens ,but if 6 0r 7 years old displays themselves dim and need replacing.ps if good at soldering just note these capacitor values uf and voltage and obtain at maplin and replace all observing polarity when fitting

You will need to replace the display, call Dacor first to see if they will assist in a price break or replacement part. They are normally good with there customers. But there is no way to adjust the display, its just fading over time, like a light bulb.

Removed the amber glass which obscures the display enough to remove the wiring from view. This also allows you to see the characters much more clearly. You now can see the inidvidual light elements.
It's not too bad, people don't even notice, but they do notice you can now tell the time and see what the oven is doing.

The solution depends first on the type of display your microwave has. Please refer to the picture. The left side shows a partially defective LCD type display. If you have this type of display, we regularly repair them for $32.50 nationwide. The right side is a VFD type display which is weak due to age.
