Dacor DMT2420 1200 Watts Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
I got a ewave microwave
I see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the controller assembly, which I regularly repair. Details are
here.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.
FixYa doesn't notify me when there's a response, so if you have other questions, please contact me directly.

Microwave sparks
Look in side and make sure there is no pieces of aluminum foil or metal hidden inside. If not I would not use until you have a appliance repair person look at it.
Sudden flames inside the microwave from right side
Quite
often this is due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the
cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.
The
waveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually about the
size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.
In some models it is a
larger stirrer cover type made of thicker plastic in the ceiling of the
oven.
It can be fragile, and
the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!
The cover and the metal
behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.
The area will
first have to be sanded smooth and
cleaned and dried thoroughly.
If the cavity metal of
the oven is cracked or split, you can use a small amount
of steel-based epoxy such as JB-WELD
to patch the crack or hole.
Once that dries
thoroughly, you can sand it very smooth.
Then you can apply some
high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart,
Lowe's or Builder's Square.
If your
waveguide cover
is burned, it will need to be replaced. It provides critical
protection for the magnetron.

Door won't open
That's probably the door open lever or door open button, and there may be
grease where the button passes through the control panel frame.
