Overdrive media console "object reference not set to an instance of an object

  • Tammy Euliano Dec 21, 2013

    Just started getting the same error when I download from Overdrive: "Unable to acquire a license to play the selected title. An error occured. Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I've been downloading titles for years, tried on several computers. same problem. This is before I try to put it on my Sansa - can't even download to the PC first.

SOURCE: When I have been transferring

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. The exact description of that error message is: "The file could not be transferred because the device clock is not set."; NS_E_DRM_LIC_NEEDS_DEVICE_CLOCK_SET

It is related to a DRM license that is on the videos that you are trying to transfer - either the video you are trying to transfer has a DRM license that does not have transfer rights, or does not allow reencoding.

Basically, the file that you're
trying to convert copyright-protected, so you will not be able to use it on a GoGear, only because the GoGear's require re-encoding first.

There are some pro
rams on the web that can remove DRM License but it is illegal

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya

What is singleton model

The Java Singleton pattern belongs to the family of design patterns that governs the instantiation process. A Singleton is an object that cannot be instantiated. This design pattern suggests that at any time there can only be one instance of a Singleton (object) created by the JVM. You implement the pattern by creating a class with a method that creates a new instance of the class if one does not exist. If an instance of the class exists, it simply returns a reference to that object

I report a solution from Portable player FAQ, let me know if it works:
1. Delete the title in the Overdrive Media Console program.
2. Then log into the Audiobook site at http://e.hbpl.org and click on My Account, My eItems Checked Out, and click the Download button the website to re-download the book.
3. Transfer the newly downloaded parts to your player.

An unhandled exception has occured .......

An attempt was made in a program or script to use an object before creating the object. For example:

dim SomeObject as Object
SomeObject.attribute = "string value"

will generate thie error message because the SomeObject that is being referred to has not been created. For this, we need the New keyword:

dim SomeObject as New SomeObject
SomeObject.attribute = "string value"
