Are you referring to switching from cable to satellite? If yes, then you need to contact a satellite company and purchase their service. If you are trying to go from cable to the old antena of yester year, you need to cancel your cable subscription, attach an antenna and go through the settup TV process on your TV or remote. It has to be on the right channel. If you are supposed to be on channel 3, 61, 73, 113 (ask the satellite company which one you should be on) then you'll have to change the channel. If you are not supposed to be on a channel you have to find out which input you're supposed to be on (video 1, video 2, video 3, av 1, av 2, av 3, hdmi 1, hdmi 2, input 1, input 2, input 3 for example).

You should not have had to choose cable or air. When you have satellite it is considered the same thing as cable. Air is over the air rabbit ears antenna free programming. When you are connecting a satellite receiver you only have to turn to channel 3 or pick the correct av, component or hdmi input. Oh you must be connecting more than one television to the same satellite receiver. When that is the case tv #2 usually has to be set on a different channel and the satellite tv company tells you which channel. You still use the satellite remote to change channels and leave this television on one channel at all times. This television is good enough for its own hd satellite receiver connected with component cables or an hdmi cable though in order for you to see its full potential for displaying hd programs.

You can not change channels on Satellite with your TV tuner card. The satellite box decodes the sat signal (it is sent encrypted) you can run S-Video/RCA/HDMI depending on the video card input, but you will be required to change the channel on the Dish box. The TV card can only change channels on broadcast (over the air) channels, you can attach an antenna and it will use the NTSC tuner to change analog channels (if they are still available) and the ATSC tuner to change digital/HD broadcast channels. This card (from your description can ONLY deal with broadcast TV, You will need a TV card with a QAM tuner for unscrambled digital cable. There is no solution for directly interfacing with Satellite on a PC or Mac (DirectTV or Dish) the signal from the satellite is encrypted and requires (at least for DirectTV, a fairly complicated decryption setup to function, this is handled by the tuner box/card combination. Sorry your setup will not support changing the channel on the PC, you may be able to find some kind of software that can utilize an IR transmitter to change the channels on your satellite box, similar to the way a Tivo or other DVR can talk to cable boxes, but that is the best you will be able to do as far as channel changing.

Try setting tv to channel 3 or channel 4, this should coincide with the back of satellite box (a little black switch with a 3 or 4). then switch channels with your satellite box. I would recommend using another output off the satellite box to feed the other tv, a splitter loses some signal quality an can go bad as well. get a long rca cable to feed tv!

Does the satellite box have left/right audio outputs?
If so, try connecting them to the red and white Video or DVD inputs in the rear of your audio receiver

Most tv setups require that you change the input source to gain the ability to watch the proper peripheral e.g. if satellite is connected on video one and the dvd is connected to the tv on another input such as video 2.

If the satellite runs into the dvd unit and from there the dvd is connected to tv you may have to power off or on the dvd player to resolve conflict.

Another problem may be the resolution setting if your tv is Hi Def. Set the tv and receiver to the resolution e.g. 1080i.

You can also changed the way the satellite is connected to the tv possibly if you have other inputs.

Check the channel also, if the unit is connected with coax it would more than likely need to be on ch 3 or 4 if you are at the satellite receiver box location. If you are at a stand alone tv off of a dual tuner you may need to search the channels for the right source both air(analog) and cable(digital).
