If you don't know the password to the BIOS - you're screwed. There's absolutely no way to recover it back. You may take it to a computer repair shop or Toshiba Repair place and let them reset the BIOS Password.

Does your laptop even see the network? If any security has been set up on your wireless router, you'll have to set up a new wireless connection on your computer. The easiest way to find the settings (SSID, encryption, password) is to look under the wireless network properties of a computer you already have running on the wireless network.

Lan and wireless driver for toshiba a135-s2246

Unfortunately, the Toshiba Satelite A135-S2246 was never designed to run XP, only Vista. Which is why you can't find any drivers for XP. The nearest you can get is to find a laptop running XP SP2 that is using the same LAN (ethernet controller) and WLAN (wireless ethernet controller), and see if they will work.

Here are the drivers I found for XP (please check which one's you are trying to install):

Atheros WiFi card driver:
http://www.wireless-driver.com/download/atheros/2007-7-23/Atheros-ar5bxb6-AR5424-mini-PCI-E-Wireless-Card-Driver-Download.htm

Intel WiFi card driver:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
You will need to search for the card that you have.

LAN (ethernet controller):
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=6&PFid=6&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1
You can pick third or fourth from top depending on your preference.

Please remember that Toshiba, Microsoft, Atheros, Realtek, Intel and especially myself accept no responsibilty for what may, or may not happen when installing drivers not specifically designed for your system. All that said, I hope it works for you.

Wireless will not pick up an existing network. it

I would check the following things.
  • Check to see if your laptop has a physical wireless switch (these will be along the edge or a button) If it is off turn it on
  • Check if your laptop has a toggle function (fn + one of the F# keys, with a antenna on it)
  • Go to Start/Win Key, Control Panel, Network Settings, manage adapters and make sure your wireless adapter is not disable
  • Right click on Computer and go to properties, device manager and check for any errors on the wireless lan
  • Click the Windows button and type "services.msc" look for the wlan / wireless connection service and make sure it is started.
  • If you see the icon in the system tray do the following
  1. On the back of the laptop (with it powered off) Open the panels on the back and locate the wireless card. (it generally will have two wires (black and white) going into it. If the wires are not attached re attach them if they are attached pop them off and pull and reseat the wireless card
If it still not working I would say the card is bad
Comment if you need additional assistance

THE PASSWORD IS REQUIRED AFTER

If it is a Windows LOGIN password read this:
If you have another account on your laptop that has administrator rights, log in into that account and change the password for your account. If you have an administrator account (even if you don't try putting in "Administrator" and leave password field blank) try using that account to reset the password. If no luck, try one of the following:
- see this for XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305
- or this for Vista/Win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/What-to-do-if-you-forget-your-Windows-password

If it's a BIOS password read this:
To reset BIOS take the battery out, if that does not work you will have to reset jumper J1.

If none of the above helped, you can use thrid party software from Hiren's Boot CD, it has password recovery and password reset tools both for Windows under Password Tools and BIOS under BIOS / CMOS Tools. Here is the download link: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip

Hook a spare monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop, If okay! the LCD display on the computer is the issue, cause, the inverter board is bad "most likely" that powers the back light, the less likely is the back light behind the screen. But if both screens show the same problem it is the video graphics card that is part of the motherboard. I suggest a computer tech.

Will not connect to wireless

In order to fix wireless network problem in Toshiba Satellite A135 series laptop, you need firstly make sure the Wireless LAN has been activated on your PC. You can check your wireless network on others laptop and get network params information:
• Protocol: WEP or WPA
• Security key or Passphrase
• Radio Band A/B/G or N
Another way you can try to fix wireless problem on Toshiba Satellite A135 is to make it connect to free access point. But you will need to know the password for secure network. If available, install a firmware update for the router or modem.
• Right click on WLAN Icon on Systray if you have one available in range
• And select "View available wireless network"
• Now you can try to connect it to any unsecured network or to a secure network
