No sound from any source from speakers

Everything was working fine. disconnected cable box from tv to put on another tv. reconnected cable box to tv with surround sound now can't get sound for tuner, tv or dvd player

I need more info..........tv speakers work ...........how do I check if audio is going out?

  • dan90 May 06, 2009

I connected the headphones as suggested and could hear the tuner/tv etc. So I unpluged the headphones and the unit clicked and the speakers began to work. I believe that the "status" that I was getting of H/P only was headphones only.

Thank you so very much for your suggestion.........the unit now works fine. Don't know how it got stuck on headphones since we never used them, but problem solved thanks to your suggestion!!!

    Thanks again!

Check your connections again and ensure you have the audio going out. With many tv's you need to change a setting in the menu, double check that as well.

let me know your tv brand and I can dig deeper for the menu screen options.

Lets assume you did not change any of the hook ups from your prior setup. Get into the menu screen options of your television and find and select audio. Generally there is a selection where you can shut off the internal audio and select external source or something with similar verbiage.

Two years after your last post....the same thing happened to my Denon AVR 687. Last night it was working fine, this morning NOTHING. It kept saying H/P only and for the life of me, I didn't know what that was. I found a headset plug and my stereo headset, plugged it in and POOF....started working fine. All is well in our house this morning. Thnaks, I'm glad I checked here.

How do i connect my lg42lh2000 to my lg ht302 receiver so that the sound from the tv can be heard through the recivers speekers

you will need:
rf modulator.
coax cable.
video cables.
run audio cables from yourmusic source to the reciever that should work but if your music source is away from the reciever then get an rf modulator and put your music source by your reciever and the put thevideo cable from your music source to the rf modulator and tthenrun a coax cable to the tv and then run the audio cables from the music source to the input on the reciever. for example i have my direct tv box sound running through my reciever and speakers, and to have musicfrom the direct tv box going through my speakers i put the audio cables from my direct tv box into the audio input on the reciever and then the video cable into the rf modulator and then from the rf modulator i ran a coax cable to my tv then i had my sound from the direct tv box going through my reciever and the video on the tv.
plz tell me if this works :)\

No sound. Tried disconnecting/reconnecting all input/output HDMI cables. Only computer is connected via RCAs (for sound only). No sound at all. Audio works on HDTV, which is going from cable box,...

Did the speaker relays light up ? and did you hear the third speaker relays ON clicking sound? If both no, DSP problem. If both yes, DIR problem. If the speaker relays lit up but NO speaker relay clicking sound, check relay driver +24V power supply.

We just got a new cable box and now the Picture works but no sound. The volume is not muted on the tv or cable box. We've tried connecting the cable box three different ways and still get the same...

Does say a dvd player give sound when connected to the same input? If you have determined that the source is good and the speakers are turned on in the menu then I would replace the main board.

On a Daytek 46 in LCD TV, no AV Digital Cable Signal, but HDMI OK

Had the same problem.
Fixed by unplugging everything from the power source, leaving for 2 minutes then plugging back in.
Works fine now.

No video on Denon avr 688

After days of frustration the real problem was with the cable box. It needed a firmware update. Following forum advice I disconnected the cable box power cord for a few minutes, reconnected it, allowed the cable box to reinitialize. Turned off receiver and TV. Turned TV back on and set it to HDMI connection, turned on receiver and all worked fine. Great picture and sound.( Needed to buy an optical cable to go from the cable box to the receiver to get sound from the speaker system. )--the dirtybird

No sound.

If you have a cable box reset it by unplugging it from power for about 5 seconds. Hope that works.

1 front speaker and 1 surround speaker won't work on cable selection

theres probably a problem with the right channel cable or plug that connects the tv to the reciever, or the tv is set to mono audio.

No audio

try to reprogram the channel. it seems that your tv's sound circuit is fine.
