These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Does say a dvd player give sound when connected to the same input? If you have determined that the source is good and the speakers are turned on in the menu then I would replace the main board.

Component problem. A defective component on the power supply circuit causes these symptoms ma'am/sir. You need an electronic servicing technician to do the work.

You probably blew up a capacitor. Unplug the television and open up the back. Check for bad caps. You'll probably find a puffy one. Check the fuses to see if they're blown. If you find a blown fuse, start looking for bad diodes or a bad transistor. If you don't know what I'm talking about then don't ruin a good television set by poking your nose inside and blowing something else up or end up zapping yourself when you touch the wrong thing. Take it to a professional and get it fixed. Good luck.

One of the fans are not spinning. Take back off and clean the fans and/or replace if necessary.

Yes a universal will work for the TV. You will not have all the funtions with a universal though. You should be able to order a new remote from the manufature though.

Usually the power board. Also possible because of an abnormal power draw from B Board.

Power Supply Output Test CN1/pin 9 / 10

B board is the load - Test CN101.

Without being able to see the TV or take measurements when it does not turn on, my best "guess" would be the A2U board, which has most of the power supply components. This is only a guess, you really need a tech to take some measurements when it doesn't come on. I would like to get in touch with you to have you check some items using the original remote control. Do you have Yahoo messenger?

There is a sleep setting, similar to a snooze butting on an alarm clock, and it can be found in the Time Menu.  Just turn it off, and the set should work fine.

This Tv is a piece of junk I have 2 of them and I had to replace the first one with this same problem. The second one just broke is stuck in dvd mode. Company is out of buissness

This TV is 10 years old and probably requires a service that replaces the backlight invertor or just a power supply issue. Check to see if the light blinks. (That is the fault code and then google the result for more information).
