Surround sound not working with PS3..

I'm almost positive this is a fairly old surround system, and I'm using a fairly old TV with it too, but for some reason, when I run my PS3, the surround sound is not working... And I have the PS3 set up to Video 3 on the TV, but for any sound to work, PS3 or TV, the Surround sound has to be set up on Video 1.

So, my rear right and rear left speakers are working, but I'm getting absolutely no sound coming out of either of the left speakers. But they all work fine with the TV.. I've tried playing with the functions and settings and nothing works... So I guess my question is, will I need a new surround sound system? Or can I actually get this to work?

P.S. I'm hooking up the PS3 to the TV with those Yellow/White/Red cables, I would use the proper name but I don't know what it is =) And I can't find the model of my TV, but it's a really old Panasonic.

Hook your front speaker wires up to the A side and on the front of it make sure only the A speakers are playing but leave the rear speakers plugged into the B side then hit the listen mode button and you should be rocking

How do i get my ps3 to run through my lg surround sound

Connect your yellow and red lead from the PS3 to the surround system, connect them to aux input. (the white lead is not needed). Then in the sound settings on the PS3, go to audio multi-output and change it to on. On your remote for the sound system press the input button until aux appears on the front of your LG HT303SU, and thats it, happy gaming.

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

I just finished setting up my system last night and was facing similar problems with sound/video from my PS3. The only option I could get working was to have the HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to the TV and then connect the Optical cable to the receiver for sound. I was under the impression that HDMI handles sound and video but for whatever reason the PS3 does not agree.

I have DTS sound and fantastic picture now through my PS3, hope this helps.

Cheers

No sound through tv speakers

Well the problem is that the PS3 only allows output on one channel. So, this is only going to be optical out, or hdmi, or even AV. You only get one option for the output.

Now, if your TV has the capability.. Run the sound through the HDMI to the TV and then let the TV output the digital sound to the surround system. This will give you the option of turning off the surround and re-enabling the TV's stereo speakers.

I hope this gives you an idea of what the problem is. If I were you, I'd just do as I said. This is exactly how I have mine setup. I have a 600w sub on the surround, so late night movies can't be played on it without the neighbors being woke up. So, I simply disable the TV's output and use it's speakers. :)

Surround Sound from PS3

Are you getting any sound?

If your marantz amp is part of a home cinema system then depending how old it is will depend on if it will do it automatically.I have just bought a sony surround system and it detects the signal range ie it knows it is being transmitted in 5:1 surround. If you have an old system you may have to do this manually, this should not be diffecult there should be a sound setting.

Tv sound & surround sound

Go to Settings/SoundSettings/AudioOutputSettings/AudioInputConnector or DigitalOut depending on type of input you are using for surround.
