Very possible you got a bunk batch of blank media. But could also be the burning program itself (IE NERO) Try to reinstall what ever program you are using

I have always been using Nero burn software with my LG GSA-2166D DVD RW. Now I bought Nero Multimedia Suite 10. No any writing process has been successful. I have since yesterday spoiled 10 DVD's....

speed of source data is too slow = the hard disk cannot deliver the data fast enough and the burning process stops; this is a sign of a severely fragmented file system and very charged background processes: defragment your hard disk, stop using other programs when burning a disk and use 8X as a recording speed.
Track Following Error = the laser head in the burner is no longer capable of following the track it has itself burned - the lens is dirty, clean it.

My gsa h54n dvd writer cd not reading but dvd

Sounds like the drive either doesn't like the disk you are trying to use or the cd laser has burnt out. Try the disk in another machine if you can, if it works ok then replace the drive.

Instead of trying to remove the internal drive, which is still useful, do what I did and buy an external DVD drive, just plug it in with a USB cable...then you still have your internal for nornal stuff and you can move the external around anywhere to take care of the heavy duty stuff...good luck..pls rate this solution.

External Drive

sounds like you broke something internally, and it is shorting out when you turn it on. I would suggest properly disposing the drive and buying a new one, as external drives are not worth fixing, and if it has a burning smell it is most defiantly a fire hazard.
