How to reset the ink level for a HP 60 ink cartridge? I have just refilled a HP 60 black ink cartridge but can not find anything on how to reset the ink level. I would do the "3 ink cartridge" trick but I do not have 3 at this time.

once it knows it is empty you're out of luck unless you can reset or replace the cartridge. not like an epson where you can get a chip resetter for their inks or the ssc service utility. canon may have a "adjustment" program for this i think but hp doesn't want you to refill inks. they put a date on them so you would throw what you had already paid so much for and buy it from them again.... called their expiration date they put on all their inks

You cannot reset the ink level indicator for the HP 60 ink cartridge. It shouldn't matter anyway because the level is only estimated for "management purposes only" (see user manual) meaning to let you know when it's near time to order a new cartidge. I have tried cycling through 3 different cartridges to reset the ink level for the one I refilled but it didn't work. Refill and just ignore the ink level indicator. Also, it's a good idea to clean the print heads with the solvent in the refill kit before refilling to remove old ink and imrpove print quality.

Go to the following website and download the freeware InkMonitor 2.1.2: http://www.pokluda.cz/. You have to add data about new cartridge. HP60 ink cartridge information, 200 pages per cartridge. This works great for me. It gives you a history of everything printed. This way you can gauge when its time to refill your cartridges. You must refill before they run out of ink or you will burn out the print heads and have to replace them.

When you get an HP integrated ink cartridge refilled (i.e. HP 60, 61, 74, 75, 901, 92-98....currently offered by Costco and Frys today) or if you buy a remanufactured/compatible HP ink cartridge, the ink levels CANNOT be reset (HP has a smart chip embedded within the nozzle plate at base of ink cartridge which counts the drops and then registers as empty - it uses fusible links so the electronics are literally blown - thus non-reversible).....so you just need to live with the low ink messages and ignore ink low, non-genuine, counterfeit, fraud messages and similar while you are using these types of refilled or aftermarket ink supplies.
Refer to Inkjet411.com sitelet for all printer models which use refilled ink cartridges (most major brands and models); also see video on HP60-61 low ink warning messages, along with all the other more severe error messages:

I would just like to add...If you need to purchase a new ink cartridge, we suggest you try a remanufactured ink cartridge fromhttp://www.inkplicity.com/ as their ink cartridges typically have the lowest cost in the USA and have a high reliability rating (free shipping for all orders above $20).

You can't reset the ink level marker for the HP 60 ink cartridge. It shouldn't have any effect regardless in light of the fact that the level is surveyed for "organization purposes only importance to reveal to you when it's nearly time to mastermind another cartridge. I have tried consuming 3 remarkable cartridges to reset the ink level for the one I refilled anyway it didn't work. Refill and basically dismiss the ink level marks. if any have any quarry related to hp products then contact https://customerservcetollfreenumber.com/hp-customer-care

Reset ink cartridge

Unfortunately you can't....

The ink level indicator cannot be manually re-set in the newer HP, Lexmark or Dell integrated ink cartridges, thus making it not usable. The OEMs all leverage 'fusible links' in the nozzle plate (internal to base of ink cartridge) which physically blows the resistors as the original ink is consumed...thus resetting the ink cartridge's ink level monitoring capability is simply not possible. The ink tracking feature is only available with a brand new ink cartridge.

However, losing this feature is not necessarily significant, because the ink level indicator usually has 20%-30% ink remaining when it shows "low on ink". Therefore, the warning has limited value, because customers who prematurely replace their cartridges when they see the "low ink" message are wasting a lot of residual ink.

Refer to any of the following videos which cover this 'low ink' subject in detail:
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=396 (HP 60/61 Low Ink)
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=517 (HP 74/75 Low Ink)
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=598 (HP 901 Low Ink)

HOW CAN I RESET INK CARTIDGE LEVELS ON HP DESKJET 3510

When you get an HP 61 / 61XL integrated ink cartridge refilled (i.e. currently offered at Costco or Frys today) or if you buy a remanufactured/compatible HP ink cartridge, the ink levels cannot be reset (HP has a smart chip embedded within the nozzle plate at base of ink cartridge which counts the drops and then registers as empty).....so you'll just need to live with it and ignore 'ink low', 'non-genuine', 'counterfeit' messages and similar while you are using these types of aftermarket supplies. The first video below provides an overview of this 'low ink' phenomena.
Additionally, severe cartridge errors (i.e. Incompatible cartridges, Black/Color cartridge(s) problem / Cartridge not intended for this printer, etc.) typically indicate the internal micro-electronics of the HP 61 cartridge are electrically damaged. The cartridges electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal electrical failure due to prolonged ink exposure and subsequent circuit corrosion. I suggest you run a Tap 41 diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced service test so the printer will attempt to send whether cartridges are good or not); Refer to Inkjet411 youtube videos below:

My refilled ink cartridge still displays empty and will not print

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.

HP Deskjet F4280 Ink Level

Hi,
when you refill the cardtridge, you can not reset the ink level... because refilling doesn't show the ink levels.. you no need to worry. if ink is there in the carttridge it will print...
Shouldn't worry about it. They are only a rough guide. The only time to worry about it is when the printer stops working and it has told you it's run out of ink! Thank you.......

I have a new HP Deskjet F4280 bought 3 weeks ago & the blank ink cartridge was empty & I refilled it in a store & placed it back but printer recognise that the cartridge is empty & it does not have a chip.

You cannot reset the ink level for the HP 60 ink cartridge. Simply ignore the ink level indicator if you refill your cartridges. It is only an estimate of the ink level anyway. See pg 72 of the user manual.

How do I reset the ink levels?

We have an issue of missing or replace yellow cartridge. Please feel free to contact the HP support for replacement of the printer, if the printer is in warranty status. HP would replace the printer.
