Here is how you might solve the issue. This is the very last resort that worked for many others.
Open a brand new MSN/Hotmail account. On the main page, top right corner you will see a link "Ask a question", click on it and it will take you to a forum. Explain the situation in detail. A Hotmail moderator should give you the solution within 24 to 48 hours.
MSN Messenger (now called "Windows Live Messenger") uses an email address as a use ID and a password. You may be able to retrieve those from any computer you used to access MSN Messenger.
MessenPass by Nirsoft http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mspass.html Download and install. The program will reveal the user name and password stored by common instant messaging programs on the computer, including MSN Messenger.
MSNLivePasswordDecryptor by SecurityXploded http://www.securityxploded.com/msn-password-decryptor.php Download and install. The program will display the user name (email
address) and password for any MSN/Windows Live account on the computer, and stored by any type of program (MSN Messenger, web browser).. If you think you know your user ID for MSN/Windows Live, you can ask Microsoft to reset the password for the account: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-sign-in-cant-faq
I take it that you don't wish to use MSN for internet access. You can delete it from your network connections window. Then you will have to set up a connection that will use either dial-up or some form of high-speed connection. That will become your default connection.
Problems:
- While you try to Sign in MSN Messenger you getting an error message with the no. 80048820
- Unable to Sing in
Probably reasons-
- Your system time/date incorrect
- Internet Proxy setting incorrect
- softpub.dll disable/missing
- Firewall does not allow to access, etc.
Solution-
Step#1
- Remove Internet Explorer proxy server settings and check the 'Automatically detect settings'.
- Launch Internet Explorer, click "Tools" and then click Internet
Options. From the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections
tab. Click LAN Setting. Uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN
checkbox. Finally tick/check: 'Automatically detect settings'.
Step#2
- Correct the computer system's Time/Day as current (if required).
Step#3
-
Click Start (Button), and then click Run, type regsvr32 softpub.dll click ok.
Step#4
- Turn off the firewall. Check firewall settings such as Norton: "Block
access to secure sites". If this cures the problem, make sure that
Microsoft's MSN Messenger is allowed full access through your firewall.
