How do you reset the parental control code?

My friend gave me one of their old dvd players and doesnt remember the parental control code. Is there any sort of manufacturer code or any way to reset the parental control or turn it off?

    I have a dvd zenith and the parental control is asking for a code of which I never set up and will not operate unless the code is punched in.Is there a solution to this problem or some way to reset it? The dvd will on t operate otherwise! It is a DVB413 DVD player.

    I have never had this problem before but one particular movie "Across the Universe" of which I have tried 3 copies will not play. I have tried changing the PG code without results.

    Same problem with the "Across the Universe" DVD not playing because of "parental control limit". Other DVD's work fine. Help?

    Same thing.  "Across The Universe" will not play and I can't find out how to enter what code to take the parental lock off.  Maddening!

    the secret is to enter 3308, press enter,the code box will vanish, now press stop,then hit play , I have a daewoo dv 6t955b not sure about other models

Called Zenith.  They said: turn on the DVD player.  Hit "set-up". Scroll down to the "lock" icon.  Scroll over to "Rating". Scroll over to unlock.  Enter 0000.  Click on Ok.  Enter 0000 again, click Ok again.  Menu should read unlock.  Voila!

If you have a daewoo dv-6t955b , enter 3308 for the code, press enter,the screen will go blank, press the stop button, then the play,

If you have the same model as mine do the best solution above and set the password to 0000 then confirm with 0000.

Play movie. When Parental Control screen appears enter 0000 and hit enter button and movie starts playing. Just fiddle with it a bit. I did and had to rewind because it was playing tthe movie behind the lock screen! Even though it showed unlocked it still needed that password which you should have reset or set to 0000...

    Note: There apparently is no default code. You have to give it a code. 0000 is easy to remember. The reason it keeps coming up with Parental Lock with Across The Universe is because of some adult content and because you never set a code in the first place.



    You can use any digit code for setup. Just don't forget it. ;=)

    Edit: My keyboard has an iffy 4 key. Just wanted to correct the missing "4" above.

Found this on another site, from personal experience but its very well written so here you go.

The Playstation 2 is not only a video game system, but also a DVD player as well. In many families, the Playstation 2 serves as the "kids" DVD player, which means that many parents choose to take advantage of the parental lock feature to limit what kinds of movies the Playstation 2 will play back.
There could be instances where you entered in a parental code months ago, and now can't remember it. Or, you may have purchased a used Playstation 2, and you never knew the code to begin with. If you or the prior owner set a parental lock code, the Playstation 2 won't play back many movies without entering the code first. You could try to hunt down the original owners, or start inputting every code possible starting with 0000, but it's easier to reset the password and disable parental lock using a secret code.
Here is the procedure to reset the parental lock code:
  1. Bring up a screen where the unit asks you to enter in the parental code. You can either insert a restricted disc, or enter the DVD setup menu and go to "parental control" under custom setup.
  2. When the screen asks for the code, press the SELECT button, then enter in the code "7444".
  3. The level adjustment under Parental Control dictates the strictness of the player. The lower the value, the more strict it will be. Either increase the value to lower the restriction, or disable the lock entirely by setting it to "off".
  4. Once you have made your adjustments, be sure that the DVD tray is empty, and press the RESET button on the front of the Playstation 2. It is imperative the tray is clear of any DVD or game for the unit to save your settings.
A note for parents: If you're wondering what is stopping your child from using the above procedure to circumvent your rules, you can verify that they haven't reset the parental control very easily. Since the above procedure eliminates the old password entirely, all you need to do is see if your original password still works. If it does, they did not use the above procedure to break the rules. If it doesn't, they might be trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

Yea, send it in to microsoft, or have a specialist in counsel repair reset it...
or you can just ask your friends parents what the code is. =P

I was given a playstation 2 and I don't know the parental code so how do I reset it with out the code
  • Power on the PS2
  • Press the Reset button
  • Inset an R-rated DVD and wait until the board comes up telling you that Parental Control is on
  • Hit the Select button
  • At the enter password prompt, hit the Select button
  • At the Delete password prompt, enter in your password
  • Hit the X button


    • You can try 1111 or 7444 those are known default codes or leave the playstation unplugged for at least 72 hours and that should clear the password.

    Can't Reprogram the TV Guardian code
    Forgotten Parental Control password can be bypassed/cleared by entering "788444" even if 4 digits "----" appears, then press ENT to clear the current password. You can then enter a new parental control password.

    If you want to code free parental control then here is the solution when you are asked to put the code press select, then insert "7444" and your code will be deleted and you will be asked to put new code so put a new code, if you wanna completely remove the code, so during the film press select and go to setup and then parental control and select to turn off the parental control
